Jelejah Malaysia
Stage 4, Jeli - Gerik
The only mountain stage of this tour and probably our only chance of a stage victory. We would probably have to attack to get a gap to the pack, and the downhill sections towards the end of the stage would surely aid the breakaway. That is what Suparman thought and he attacked!!
Suparman, Zargari, Mori, Fukushima, Jakovlev create a gap on the first climb.
They attacked with 31kms gone of the stage and the pack didn't seem bothered. These 5 riders worked well together, especially Iman who wanted a stage win badly.
Suparman takes 16 points at the top ahead of Jakolev and Zargari. They are now eying up the next KOM point in the distance.
They reached they top of the first climb with 80kms left to ride, 5'20" ahead of the peleton and show no signs of speeding up.
Superman takes another 16 points from the 2nd climb.
Suparman takes another 16 point but he had to work hard for it, putting in extra turns, longer turns. The top of the climb marks 70kms to the finish and the gap has started to decrease and is now at 4'17. The next few kilometers and Suparman notices that Jakovlev looks extremley strong and it's in his mind that he isn't the best sprinter or climber in the group, but he is the best downhiller and there is now quite a long descent, so he attacks!!
Iman goes solo
Suparman instantly creates a gap due to his excellent descending skills and with 58kms to the finish the gap back to the pack is 3'15" and back to the chasers is 30". Unfortunatley for Iman there is another climb before the finish, but if he can get over that solo then he knows he can increase the gap back to Jakovlev and Zargari, who have now dropped Mori and Fukushima.
Suparman is cuaght
Iman gets caught at the start of the climb, but all he needs to do now is hang on because with 40kms to go the gap back to the pack has increased slightly and is now and 3'20" surely that's enough.
He does hang on and over the top Jakovlev takes the maximum 10 points, Suparman goes through 2nd and Zargari 3rd.
With 20 kms to go it is official, the break will stay away with a lead of 3'10" over the pack. Then disaster strikes!!! With 10kms left of the stage Iman gets dropped
He used all his effort in going solo, but he isn't worried all he has to do now is stay clear of the 2 riders chasing behind, Mori and Fukushima. The 2 up front will fight for the win and with Jakovlev leading out and Zargari being the better sprinter, it seemed like a definate outcome.
It wasn't Jakovlev shows how strong he was today by winning the sprint and the stage, but where is Iman????????
There he is, and he comes in 3rd, justB)B)B)
A podium for Benteng, great news but the sponsors want a stage win from this tour and there are rumours that if we don't get one, they will fire me and hire an Indonesian manager, only time will tell.
I forgot to mention Iman took the Mountains jersey with ease today so we will have something to take home, I hope that satisfise that board enough to not sack me.

i had played the last 3 stages but there's no need to say who won

that's not what I meant. I'm interested. I just avoid posting them because I myself when reading don't like other posts interrupting. Ideally stories for me would just be the stories themselves.
that's just me, call me a strange person |

you see i like it when people post as it is obvious people are reading the story and enjoying it, unless they're saying 'this story's crap'
but even then that's good because if you know it isn't liked then you can stop
but hey, i might try again sometime in the future

Business studies never was an important subject
And Addy, I can confirm what Justin's saying - people don't always post, but if you plough on through the times where there seems to be little interest, you'll get a lot at some points

Aww, I missed your Asian story
Nice 3rd place with Iman btw. I just dont bother posting stories on PPDB, only the ones by the people who have thousands of posts get much interest.
