Stage 2: Mawson Lakes - Angaston 148km
The stage is quite flat so a breakaway probably wont make it. After 50km of the stage the attack came. It was Erwin Thijs from Unibet.com that together with Day from Discovery tried to make a break. I said to Sabido to follow to try his legs after the incident yesterday.
The breakaway was very near to make it, with 10km left it was still 1,5 minutes to the pack, that's because my team refused to relay but when Sabido told me that he were to tired to follow Thijs and Day I immediatly took up every rider except Hunter and Guidi to relay on 90% They were caught with 4km to go and the sprint took of almost immediatly after that.
Hunter took O'Grady's wheel today as well, I thought that you shouldn't change a winning system, but in cycling that's not the case. A train of Eeckhout,Ljungblad and Fédrigo swished past and it was very close that I didn't got on it. But Hunter followed and when they crossed the line....

Hunter had outclassed all the riders and won with a very big marginal.

Sorry got so accelerated after the first 2 wins that I forgot to take screens in my eager to complete the race
Stage 3 Stirling-Handorf
Another sprint, another win for Barloworld cyclist Robert Hunter

Stage 4 Strathalbyn - Yankalilla
First loss for the year, but my excuse is that Hunter got a puncture with 70km to go and got 2 red bars and almost empty blue bar when he came back to the pack before the sprint. He keeps the yellow jersey though.

9.William Bonnet CREDIT AGRICOLE s.t.
10.Julian Dean CREDIT AGRICOLE s.t.
Stage 5 Willunga-Willunga
First hilly stage for the season, and my tactic was to keep Hunter in the pack, together with O'Grady and the others, and Sabido would try to attack in last hill with 30km to go. This race was the first time a breakaway hold to the finish line. It was Fédrigo (Bouygues) and MartÃnez (Agritubel) who made it to the finish

Fédrigo and MartÃnez sprinting for the win, and Hunter arrives right behind
1.Pierrick Fédrigo BOUYGUES TELECOM 3h38'04
2.Alberto MartÃnez T. AGRITUBEL s.t.

3.Robert Hunter BARLOWORLD + 17
4.Stuart O'Grady TEAM CSC + 43
5.Nico Eeckhout CHOCOLADE JACQUES - T. VLAANDEREN + 1'05
6.Mirko Lorenzetto TEAM MILRAM + 1'13
7.Julian Dean CREDIT AGRICOLE + 1'17
8.Lloyd Mondory AG2R PREVOYANCE + 1'19
9.Matti Breschel TEAM CSC + 1'23
10.Brett Lancaster TEAM MILRAM + 1'25
Stage 6 Adelaide-Adelaide
This stage that looked like it was going to be the relaxing finishing stage now becomes the most important. With Fédrigo 17 seconds in front of Hunter, he'll need to win to take the GC. The Barloworld team were in front the whole race keeping a average pace of 45kmph to prevent any Breakaways. It came down to a mass sprint, Hunter took Mondory's wheel and with 1 km to go he left his wheel and tried to sprint past him. It was so even I couldn't tell the winner, but to my big dissapointment Mondory was declared the winner, and Hunter second, so no GC win for Hunter.

A very, very close finish
Result
1. Lloyd Mondory (Ag2r)
2. Robert Hunter (BAR) s.t
3. Julian Dean (CA) s.t
4. Stuart O'Grady s.t
GC:
1. Pierrick Fédrigo Bouygues Telecom
2. Robert Hunter Team Barloworld +5
3. Alberto MartÃnez Agritubel +17
4. Stuart O'Grady Team CSC +49
5. Lloyd Mondory AG2R Prevoyance +59
Points:
1. Robert Hunter Barloworld 121
2. Stuart O'Grady Team CSC 91
3. Nico Eeckhout Chocolade Jacques 55
KoM:
1.Alberto MartÃnez T. AGRITUBEL 10
2.Pierrick Fédrigo BOUYGUES TELECOM 8
3.Jonathan Bridge BARLOWORLD 6
So sad to lose by 5 seconds, but I'm pleased with the stage race anyway. Took the points jersey, 2nd in overall, 3rd in KoM and 3 stage wins. The sponsors liked it too

And Robert Hunter was awarded Rider of the month
