Is this race some kind of evil cyanide conspiracy against me?

I was happy for a while, because Contador hadn't been mentioned in any crashes, but then I read SN's comment inhere and went to check.
Contador has lost 1'41" aswell... Not that good to be honest. Luckily a lot of contenders have lost equally or more time than Contador, and Hushovd banking in some very needed points by doing 6th and 2nd. Well done.
Hopefully Contador was only caught in the crash, and didn't go down himself...
I'm sorry for having missed two so notable riders, but my guess is that none of them actually crashed, but were caught behind due to the other 25-30 riders who did crash.

Since we can't see the GC, with time gaps I have made a short favorite GC:
1 Thomas Dekker
2 Joaquin Rodriguez Oliver +0"
3 Jaroslav Popovych +0"
4 Simon Spilak +0"
5 Stijn Devolder +0"
6 Igor Antón +0"
7 Sylvain Chavanel +0"
8 Patrick Sinkewitz +1'41"
9 John Gadret +1'41"
10 Alberto Contador +1'41"
11 Markus Fothen +1'41"
12 Beñat Intxausti +1'41"
13 Andreas Klöden +1'41"
14 Bernhard Kohl +1'41"
15 Rúben Plaza +1'41"
16 Vladimir Karpets +2'53"
17 Andrei Kashechkin +2'53"
18 Santiago Perez Fernandez +2'53"
19 Aleksandr Pliuchkin +2'53"
20 Fabio Duarte +8'42"

Uphill finishes occasionally cause splits like that.
Especially as the time gap was just 10 seconds

I make that only Dekker and Popovych of the real threats who gained time there then on Intxausti/Contador - aswell as Devolder, but I reckon he is more likely to lose time elsewhere

Devolder is likely to lose time on anything resembling a challenge.

Yup. Very exciting race. I weren't supposing that Contador could beat Dekker, nor Popo anyway, so still in the running for 3rd place :-P

Last season, yes! But he seems to be doing a bit better after we changed into a new game :-)
So I wouldn't count him out for a podium at all... Dekker seems to be the only contender for the overall victory unless you are unlucky with crashes. Seems good to me though that a team out of the top 6 will take the most points :-P

Ahh didn't see that the stage was up
Another good performance from Hushovd who keeps on taking points away from Accumalux, Domina Vacanze, Wikipedia and Lipton. Very nice so far.
A lot of good riders have already lost a lot of time... Contador seems to be on his own when we reach the mountains. I suppose Ortega (His only helper) is seriously injured aswell as a lot of others...
But with Boonen probably out, Hushovd will have to take a stagewin or 2 in this race :-)

So, Gadret, Kashechkin and Popovych seem out of it. That can only be a good thing for Intxausti (before it becomes his turn to crash)

Okay pretty good... Lost a few points on La Gazzetta, but can't catch them anyway. Took points on everyone else besides Wikipedia, but I suppose I will outscore them in the end here...
In the overall GC Contador is now closing a bit in the rankings, being the 6th best captain. 9 seconds gained on Intxausti is important.

Had expected more from Dekker in the TT, but he's still in front of the favourites' GC, so it's alright. |

Devolder 4th in the GC? Im stunned. I was about to swear when i couldnt find him in the top 40. Im positively surprised. How many GT's do i need to win to stay in the ProTour?

If you somehow get him to win the TDF and TONE, then you may stand a slight chance.
