Prologue | 01 Signing a Contract
Hello my name is Rajesh Kakhi and I am happy to announce that I just signed my first contract as a professional cyclist. When ProContinental Team Champion Systems offered me to ride for them I couldn't believe what just happened and didn't hesitate before signing. It is risky by the team to sign an unknown rider from a country that is not big on the cycling map but I won't disappoint the management!
Here I will have my blog at least until the end of this season to keep my fans up to date and tell them about my experience of Professional Cycling. First I would like to introduce myself and I will tell you my story how I got this far, right from the beginning when I stole my first bike.

Prologue | 02 My first Bike
I was raised in the city of Bangalore and it first seemed like I would continue the family tradition and would become an excelent thief. I must say I was quite talented. But then it was one day, March 15th 2002, two weeks before my 13th birthday, that would change my destiny. Me and my fellow pickpockets spoted a group of British tourists riding on a bicycle through the city, a pretty rare observation in my hometown. We followed them, facing our goal of getting us these bicycles, as we could get a lot of money for the steel they consisted of. When they rested and drank tea we took our chance. It was easy to crack the bike locks and each of us took a bike and we were of. We carried them as we didn't know how to use them.
In the following days we all tried to learn how to ride on the new acquired bicycles, but we failed. The others gave up, but I tried on and on and one day I was able to ride the bicycle. While the others selled the components on the black market to get enough money to buy food, I kept my bike against the will of my family. To me it was the best feeling to sit on the bike and just ride and escape the troubles of everyday life. I wouldn't give that up to easy.

Prologue | 03 Getting an Upgrade
Cycling got so important that I decided that I want to earn my money with it in the future. The others just laughed at me, but this had a positive effect, as it boosted my motivation even more.
I needed an upgrade, A tourist bike wouldn't bring me far. I decided to steal a racing bicycle from the Bangalore Bike Shop, here were the best bikes you could get in entire India. It was a risky plan as there were video cameras everywhere. So I decided to bring my plan in the night into action. My friend Hari supported me whereever he could, he was quite helpful as he was an excelent hacker and was able to deactivate the burglary alarm system, so I could get without much trouble in the store. Hari told me that my time was limited, as the alarm system had an safety mechanism and would reactivate itself after roughly five minutes.
I cracked the lock of the back entrance with ease and squeezed through the half-open door. Now I had to be fast, I went to the area with the road bikes. There were so many, it was really hard to decide which to take, I somehow wanted to take them all. Finally I decided for a bike that was painted tourquoise, the letters on it said "Bianchi". I've never heard of it before.
I took the bike out of it's stand and made my way to the back-entrance walking the bicycle. Just when I was about to reach the door the alarm bell started to ring...

Prologue | 04 Facing the Goal
The sound of the alarm bell went through my entire body. I knew of course that it wouldn't be long until the police was there, as I was in the center of the city. When I openend the backdoor I could already see the police lights on the horizon nearing rapidly. I just got on my new bike and started pedalling, which wasn't that easy with clickpedals and my running shoes. Finally I got it working but the first police car was already behind me.
The "Bianchi" Bike was much lighter then I ever expected a bike could be. Riding on it felt like flying. In the end I could shook off the police but I can't remember how, as I was too much focused on my new precious bike.
That bike would bring me far. Almost every day I spent several hours with it on the hills outside the city without neglecting my actual job of being a thief. My prey brought in as much money as the ones of the others. My talent made a career as one of Bangalore's most infamous thiefs still an option I really liked. In that time I could still focus on both cycling and stealing, but the day I had to decide which of these would be the content of my life was nearing!

Prologue | 05 Being on Track
One of my cousins was known to always bring a paper and read about the latest news, he was also the only one who could decently read. One day, I was 16, he found something he really wanted to show me. It was a track competition that would be held in Bangalore. It was made by Indian Cycling Federation to get more people interested in cycling. Everybody with a bike could take part at the qualifications for it.
I immediately decided that I would take part. The rules were easy, 16 competitors riding against each other, 20 laps on the track. Track was never my main goal, but this was the first bike race I ever took part. I was surprised by how easily I made the qualifiacations for the final. My entire family came to cheer for me. That was one major factor at helping me winning the race. That moment, when I crossed the goal line at first, two rounds in front, I realised the first time that I was indeed quite talented and could accomplish my goal at becoming a pro cyclist. The Indian Olympic Federation would offer me an internship for that.
After the race a man named Yogeshwar Kunar introduced himself to me and afterwards asked me a question that would change my future. Kumar was part of the Indian Olympics Assiocation and a big cycling fan, also the organisator of the race I had just won before. He has the dream to establish India as cycling nation. He asked me if I wanted to become part of the Indian Olympics Sports Academy and so make cycling the main content of my life.
I was sure I would agree, but that meant leaving my friends and family and moving to Delhi.

Prologue | 06 Fulfilling my Dream
A week after I had won my first race I called Yogeshwar Kumar, because I made a decision. My parents told me it was my decision, they knew I was a talented thief, bringing a lot of money to the family, but they now also knew I was a (even more) very talented cyclist, maybe also earning a lot of money long-term. After a long talk with my family and my friends I decided to join the academy and prepare myself professionally for a future as a professional cyclist.
When I arrived at the academy, I noticed early I was the only cyclist there. The most sportlers there were cricket players. I became friend quickly with my roommate Ajay who played badminton on the academy. I would stay at the academy for four years, also improving my school skills. I focused my training on short climbs, as that was the profile I also rode on back in Bangalore.
One day I got a call from the manager of Champion Systems with an offer for a contract for the 2013 cycling season.
That's all from my past. The next time you'll here from me showing you my season schedule! |

Anybody else find it extremely funny/frustrating that this guy signs a ridiculously OP rider (De Vries) and then disappears.
So now he gets to dominate the CT without even being here

Season 1 | 01 My Race Planning
I finally got my race planning and I will be taking part in three races in the next season part. The first one is already my biggest race. I will lead the team in the Netherlands for the Amstel Gold Race, where a wild card application was accepted. I aim for a Top 20 here.
The other two races are both five day stage races. The Tour of Norway and the Ronde van Belgie both constist of four flat sprint stages and a hilly stage. In both I will go for a top ten overall placement. My hill abilities will be crucial for that. On top of that I also plan to contest the sprint stages.
I will bring you up to date about my perfomances once the racing begins for me! |

Champion System Pro Cycling Team is an UCI Professional Continental Team registered in People's Republic of China.
The team features Asia's best cyclists among well experienced riders from all over the world. Our primary goal is to allow Asian cyclists competing at the highest level of their sport, because we believe in their ability to actually ride against the strongest guys in the world. That is why we will be trying to have an international schedule, so that Asian cycling can show its face to the world.
Champion System specializes in the production of high quality custom technical apparel. Not only professional teams but also amateur athletes are relying on Champion System because of its enormous knowledge and quality.
As an Asian company, Champion System is of course heavily triying to support Asian professional cycling. That is why the team is focusing on Asian riders. Nonetheless, Champion System is a company with international ambitions and therefore riders from all over the world got their place in the team as well.
Established in 1899, Fuji Bikes is one of the oldest bycicle brands in the world. Utilising most advanced technology, Fuji offers a whole line of premium bikes - specifically for professional cyclists and everybody who loves cycling in general.
Despite Fuji being an American corporation, it has its roots in Japan and is still known for its Asian originals. Thus our second most important sponsor totally supports our focus on Asian cycling.

Custom Riders are always underlined.
Our Team Leaders:
Christian De Vries
23-year old Christian De Vries is an absolutely stunning talent. By starting competitive cycling at the age of seven months, he could gain an advantage on all other riders at his age. His parent's decision to make him ride a bike before he was able to walk or even speak may sound weird, but just because of that he is now able to be both young and one of the best leaders in major tours as well.
Not only that he is one of the best climbers in the peloton, he also shows an incredible strength in time trials, although he always needs some time to find a steady rhythm. The total of all that strenghts makes him our team leader for now, without any doubt.
His only problem could be that sports scientists found out that he seems to be on his peek already. So maybe learning to cycle before walking has some disadvantages - but we will definetely figure that out.
Rajesh Kakhi
Young Indian Rajesh Kakhi is 23 years old as well, but he took a totally different development as a young rider. Stealing his very first bike about ten years ago and trying to realise his dream of being a professional cyclist despite all difficulties, he in the end won a talent contest on the track and joined a sports academy. There we found him and were instantly convinced that he would be the right man for us. But you should better read his awesome blog yourself.
Rajesh's major strength lies in short, steep hills as they occured near his home town Bangalore. Although climbing long mountains with a stedy rhythm somehow makes him feel very uncomfortable, he is one of the most punchy riders in the peloton. Furthermore, he has a certain strength in sprinting. So it's not just hilly stage races and classics, where he will lead the team, but also sprint stages. He is by far the biggest hope for the future that Champion System Cycling Team can focus on.
Our Strong Sprinters:
In the subject of sprinting we are proud to present a whole set of strong men. All of those guys have their own strengths and weaknesses, but because the differences between them in terms of sprinting abilities are so little, we decided not to set up any kind of ranking. It should be mentioned, that we are aware of the point that other teams are far more concentrating on sprint races. That is why for us not only wins count, but we are also happy for every podium and Top10 finish as well.
Bobbie Traksel
31-year old Bobbie Traksel is well-known for several years now. In 2000 he started his career by riding for Rabobank until 2004. Through different teams he came to Vacansoleil in 2009 then, racing there for two years. After another two years in the Landbouwkrediet team he now has joined our team.
In the past, Bobbie has shown that especially (cobbled) races in Belgium and Netherlands are his thing as his biggest achievements were winning stages in Ster Elektrotoer and Sachsen-Tour as well as the former one-day classic race Veenendaal-Veenendaal in 2002. Six years later he smashed those by surprisingly winning the Driedaagse Van West-Vlaanderen and Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne later on in 2010.
In our team he will be leading in classics especially, because he is by far the most experienced sprinter and cobbled classics specialist. We do also look forward to sending him to some stage races - alongside with another sprinter to share the captain's role.
Matthew Brammeier
One of those is 27-year old Matt Brammeier. His first team was DFL-Cyclingnews-Litespeed in 2006 after he had already shown his talent by winning the Junior's Road Race British Championships in 2003. Achieving gold in the U23 Time Trial British Championships was his next step towards being a top cyclist. In past he has already been riding for World Tour Teams, such as HTC-Highroad and Omega Pharma-Quickstep. Although he was not able to show what a superb bike rider he is through major results, since 2010 he always has been the National Champion of Ireland.
Due to his fast legs, Matt is going to be racing mostly stage races, where he surely can get us some nice results. Unfortunately, he badly hates climbing, but which sprinter doesn't?
Fabian Schnaidt
The third strong sprinter in our squad is still a huge talent, that needs to be formed properly. 22-year old Fabian Schnaidt started his career in 2010 as a member of little German team Bergstraße. After winning U23 Road Race German Championship, he managed to get into his former team Specialized Concept Store. Last season he won stages in several races, thus showing that he is able to convert his pure strength in results as well. He took first places in La Tropicale Amissa Bongo, Oberösterreichrundfahrt and Tour of Qinghai Lake.
Because of Fabian being one of the youngest riders in our team, we are sure that he will develop further in future. Until then he will race sprint stages, usually as a co-captain with Matt or Bobbie. We do believe that, as time goes by, he will get our team leader in sprints for certain.
Our Supporting Team-Mates:
Name | Nationality | Age | Jamel Johnson | Peru | 18 | Matthias Friedemann | Germany | 28 | Christopher Butler | USA | 24 | Ryan Roth | Canada | 29 | Chad Beyer | USA | 26 | Gregor Gazvoda | Slovenia | 31 | Craig Lewis | USA | 27 | Muhamad Othman | Malaysia | 21 | Clinton Avery | New Zealand | 25 | Pengda Jiao | China | 26 | Chan Jae Jang | South Korea | 25 | Ryota Nishizono | Japan | 25 | Gang Xu | China | 28 | Mart Ojavee | Estonia | 31 | Kin San Wu | Hong Kong | 27 | Chun Feng | Taiwan | 24 | Biao Liu | China | 24 | Zachary Bell | Canada | 30 |
An overview of all our riders and their stats for Part 2:
After an exceptional period of training and due to impressively hard work, Rajesh Kakhi and Fabian Schnaidt really increased their abilities. Muhamad Othman also made a considerable step forward.
Bold Races are our goals.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: NEW MANAGEMENT
There is something going on in Champion System Pro Cycling Team! As certain media has reported, the team, which has been deeply suffering due to inactivity of his former manager, has, after a long period of trying to find somebody to overtake that job, by now accomplished this task.
In aggreement with the UCI (you all know that means Ollfardh ) the new manager of the team, German Jochen Hahn, is now entering the team's management.
He stated that "there will be changes soon, such as a new, appropriate HQ and a racing schedule. We're working on it as hard as we can".
Furthermore he said that "one of our most important tasks is to really support our young riders, which hopefully have kept their faith in the team".
You may choose the source by yourself.
