I didn't bother with TTs under 8kms for this, as they tend to be quite different
2008: Larsson as a 6th year pro, Martin a neo-pro
Critérium International: Martin by 6s
Tour de Romandie: Martin by 4s
Giro d'Italia: Martin by 1m52s
Deutschland Tour: Martin by 48s
WC: Larsson by 10s
2009: Larsson as a 7th year pro, Martin as a 2nd year pro
Critérium International: Martin by 27s
Tour de Suisse: Martin by 1m36s
Tour de France 1: Martin by 8s
Tour de France 2: Larsson by 31s
WC: Larsson by 1m3s (Martin was ahead at both checks.....until Larsson started drafting Cancellara)
2010: Larsson as an 8th year pro, Martin as a 3rd year pro
Vuelta a AndalucÃa: Martin by 21s
Tour de Suisse: Martin by 48s
Conclusion: How is this even a debate?

Evans won the "Nacht von Hannover" yesterday, was great atmosphere at the circuit but it showed again how limited the sporting value of a criterium is. It was so obvious again it was predetermined who gets on the podium.
And they are not even able to write his name right...

Yes, that's the whole idea of a criterium. They pass around a list in the locker rooms before the race saying "X will win, Y will be second, Z will be third" and son on, and then the riders put on a show for a while, then make sure it finishes as it's supposed to.

But Martin is the 2nd best TT specialist in the world atm, i rate him higher dan [b]Gustav "I get overtaken early by Cancellara and then hang on" Larsson[b] any day
Gustav Larsson is a better TT rider than Tony Martin. Gustav was 2nd in the Olympics and in the WC last year. Martin was almost 2 minutes behind Gustav in the WC last year. He will beat Tony Martin any day.
You will see what I mean in the WC 2010.
Do you even read? I just explained he got 2nd in the worlds ITT because he was overtaken by Cancellara quickly and then hung 20m behinds him for the rest of the TT, half drafting
That's the same way how he got 2nd at the olympics.
Martin didn't have the advantage of wheelsucking Cancellara for an entire TT
Please read next time, ok, thanks, bye |

BECAUSE HE WAS DRAFTING CANCELLARA
How many times do we have to repeat this before it gets through your head.
When you get overtaken by Cancellara quickly and then hold his wheel for the entire TT, plenty of TT specialists could suddenly end up 2nd ... pfff |

While youre absolutely right about the Worlds, and the Swedes trying to argue otherwise are idiots, Larsson gained no such advantage in the Olympics.
He took the lead by nearly 2 minutes when he finished, and while he did catch Karpets - from the video I have of the race - it was Karpets who was tracking him for most of the 2nd lap.

yes, thats on the results paper. But if you have a good memory and can remember how he won, then you can paint a better picture of how future results will go.

I do remember the olympic games TT better then the WCs TT.
And then Larsson did cross the line when Fabian still were in the race , Larsson came 2nd anyway...
We have to wait and see this time in the WC. |

I don't give 2 monkeys about the Olympic games. I care about last years World Championships, where Larsson drafted Cancellara. Which as we all know gives a significant advantage.

Who. Fricking, Cares,
Even if anyone is retarded enough to "give" that one to Larsson, it's still 9-3 in Martin's favour and when Martin doesn't win, the margin is very small.
That was the original point of the discussion and no one can argue otherwise.

Perfect lead-out from Sky. It's an advantage to have a man like Boasson Hagen taking the last turn all the way to the finish.
