Say it like this: How can I be a veteran if Horner wants to ride at a top level at 45? |

Yeah its all relative.
Most cycling clubs in the north are jammed with people well over 50. |

Strongest guys in our local club are 18 and 43 respectively. Age means little.
I can afford cleats now, and once we move next week I'll be back on Strava. Hoping to go 30kmh plus. |

Improving from ~17 km/h to 30 ? That's a huge improvement.
Hope you'll manage, but in the space of one week or two it'd be more amazing than Chris Froome two years ago. |

I'm on 27/28 at the moment on the flat. With more mileage and cleats I reckon 30kmh is doable by year end. |

The Vuelta has inspired me to revisit a particularly nasty short, sharp climb in the next few days https://www.strava.com/segments/895046
Firstly, with a section at 25%, I'm always happy to just make it to the top but anything around 4 minutes would be nice - only a mere 2 minutes off the KOM for a climb that's all of 0.6km! Now there's something to work towards
Wish me luck...
I absolutley love those short sharp ones, you just grab the bike and go for it kind of like a sprint. Kind of reminds me of this one https://www.strava.com/segments/616718 which is part of a longer climb https://www.strava.com/segments/616719 but its that 1st wall of road that usually destroys people.
Hope you kicked its arse ian
Yeah an average of 19% to kick things off must be fun |

One of my rides in Amstel Gold Race-country: https://www.strava...s/79945255
Too bad the GPS on my smartphone was drunk a few times, so there are some segment times missing. And about the max speed: not 132 km/h, but just 68..... (and average speed was 21.5 at my bike computer)
Love cycling in this area, but some of these climbs are sooo steep, with gradients over 15%. Think the Eyserbosweg is the toughest one, as you see the road getting steeper in front of you, even though you're climbing at 11-12% already.
Today it's raining, but hopefully the weather clears up in the next few days, so I can do another big ride here.

typical, I spent 15 minutes looking for my result of a 15km time trail I once did a time back, thinking I was faster then you. then I realized they you wrote miles instead of kilometers. changes the whole perspective
