Whatever you do, don't wear them with the headband. |

Hello, your resident lurker here,
I've been looking for some (reasonably cheap) glasses for cycling too, they look like they could do the trick.
Been riding some fairly sandy trails, getting pretty sick of sand in the eyes every time I am following someone heh
Man they amount of crap I am needing/wanting to buy to support this new found cycling addiction is getting insane
The weather has been so good recently I have been hopping on my MTB at every opportunity, there are some nice trails around here, even a half decent MTB park. The shiny new carbon road bike I purchased recently has barely seen any action!

Have you done any races? If so, you can expect it to became a real expense, specially if you almost achieve a goal and look for an edge with food supplements (for me, they were Mg+K so that I wouldn't have to limit caffeine in fear of cramps and arginine) or worse, better equipment.

Meh, a couple of my Strava KOMs have been stolen.
Some of them I didn't even deserve because they were beaten before being made, but uploaded after I had performed. It feels a bit strange to receive a message like "X has just stolen your KOM". You set your record *last month* and you realize the guy performed 6 months ago...
Another has "just" been stolen by soon-to-turn-pro Valentin Madouas, son of Laurent. Not much I can do against such guys (although I lost 3 seconds on a 1,4 km or so portion, but put three minute into him on the whole 4 km climb - not that I'd remotely stand a chance if he did it all at full steam).

Well, here's question for people who know more about cycling than I do. On a flat course, around 15km's long, with an average speed of about 36km/h by a 15 year old, 167cm and 57kg dude, is it good or bad? |

Define good or bad.
Tell about wind conditions, total elevation, kind of bike, straight road or cities to cross with traffic lights, done alone or in a group ?
Now, I'd say it's "rather good", but it might as well be "average", guys your age win races longer and faster than that.
It'd be more interesting to find a long and relatively steep climb (or many) and do your 5 minutes or so best effort and then one of 20 minutes. If possible with no wind, alone, and at speeds below 23 km/h (so it has to be steep enough). That way your endurance and VO2max could be vaguely estimated. |

The Vuelta has inspired me to revisit a particularly nasty short, sharp climb in the next few days https://www.strava.com/segments/895046
Firstly, with a section at 25%, I'm always happy to just make it to the top but anything around 4 minutes would be nice - only a mere 2 minutes off the KOM for a climb that's all of 0.6km! Now there's something to work towards
Wish me luck...

In Estonia 15-16 year olds have the Championship in 15 km. This year the course was with small hills (but still relatively flat, hills were not very steep, max 6% but most were less and under 500m). Raced on road with no sharp turns.
Winner was 41 km/h.
36 km/h would have given 27th place out of 44.
It all depends what bike were you riding, most riders in top10 had a TT bike (some of them old but still) but would have exeeded 36km/h with road bikes too.

Still, you would be the best portugese at Estonian 15-16 champs Miguel. And that is somewhat!
Just kidding, i see it as nice numbers. For me, it is hard to even reach 40km/h on the flat.

I absolutley love those short sharp ones, you just grab the bike and go for it kind of like a sprint. Kind of reminds me of this one https://www.strava.com/segments/616718 which is part of a longer climb https://www.strava.com/segments/616719 but its that 1st wall of road that usually destroys people.
Hope you kicked its arse ian
