I guess because he has shown some promise as a climber, he is cheap and everybody would love to take credit for "discovering" this diamond in the rough... |

Di Luca will end up being isolated at some point. His team has wasted a lot of energy on defending the jersey, and I strongly doubt that he can keep on being this strong.
I still hope for Basso, although he's lost some stupid seconds here and there. I guess Leipheimer is the likely GC-winner.
We'll see, everything is still entirely open. |

Shows what that leader jersey can do. Wonder how much it will help Di Luca on Thursday. Hopefully not too much |

The TT is too long for Di Luca, so we should see a new pink jersey: Menchov or Leipheimer.

Looks like it's handed to Leipheimer right now. Menchov always seems to be one step below the real good time trialists.

Not in Le Tour last year where I remember him doing pretty well in both TT's both those were more flat.

Menchov or Levi will lead after TT. And after last mountain I think they and Sastre will be in the top, while Basso and De Luca will be behind. If not De Luca dopes himself ofc. |

Nice, Levi's making jokes about his own downhilling ability whilst Lance tries to cover it up with talk about "the locals" knowing the area. I didn't know Menchov and Sastre were "locals", but I guess I must be wrong...

On Augustyn, he was a white jersey podium candidate untill the Scarponi stage where he missed a split and lost a couple of min, since then he has been in the groupetto so either he has injured himself or he is saving his legs for a breakaway at some point.

God, the Lance lovers I know are all spouting stupidity.
They're all saying that Lance didn't do that bad, and that he kept with Levi and Basso yaddie yaddah.
The funny thing is watching them deny it when I run thru the problems Lance had.
Part 1: Lance got dropped
What they say: He wasn't that far back over the top
My response: Pellizotti went with only around 3k to go, he didn't have that much time to drop that far back
Part 2: Lance got back
What they say: Well, he got back...
My response: Yes, he was in a group where he did no work, and they caught a group of riders who were unorganized and therefore descending horrible
God, its the exact same every time...

Lance does not look like and probably is not rider he once was...and that should perhaps make some of you happy...but remember that he has never participated in a Giro and is doing so after a surgical repair of his clavicle, so I applaud the effort that being said with no excuses, he is just not good enough to keep up with the top riders in this race. |

I am very impressed with Sastre. I think he will dominate later in the mountains. The one that has impressed me the most climbing so far.
Lance as a cyclist aims for the tour and i think that is when we will see what he is made of. It seems like his form is improving now though. He is still a horrible person no matter what.
Di Luca had wings last giro he had the pink jersey and as far as i know he never made a TT as the one he did when he won the giro. I dont see him keeping up at a long TT like the one coming up but i bet he will go for it for as long as he can. I think some riders have been waiting for this thursday for a very long time and will put on a hell of performance too.
Only problem is that it seems it will be the first stage i cant sneak away to watch so far. |

Yes, Carlo Sastrini and Deniso Menchovotto know that descent like the back of their handlebars.
And of course Di Luca and Pellizotti who each live about 500kms in opposite directions ride down that road every day of their lives.
