So I've been awarded a scholarship that will see me living in Rome this year from February until the end of June. Has anyone got any advice for those of us who have never actually been to see a race live?
Been mentioned several times in the cycling forum.
In short, unless you can walk around the start or the finish of the stage and meet riders, staff, etc. there, it's rather dull as it means long hours of waiting before the pack passes, generally much too fast (even on hills) for you to recognize more than a handful of riders.
Might be worth it if you can stand near a giant screen and/or if the race finishes on a circuit. |

Just gotta come up with an award category for stuff like the Writer's Block and the Strava Group
I only meant that (about the strava group) half seriously and couldn't really give a damn. But, for what it's worth, it was founded by one of PCM.Daily's admins and uses the site logo. |

Can't really speak for those 3 races, but for going to watch a race live in general:
- TTs, Circuits or Climbs are the best place to watch races, simply because you get to see more. Failing that, somewhere with a TV screen - but that is hard to really plan in advance.
- Sometimes helps to think beyond the obvious for where you want to stand. There are often quiet places on the route just round the corner from very busy places.
- If going to somewhere you expect to be popular, and have the time to do so, get there early. It's worth the wait.
- If crowd size / race type allow it, try to view races from different positions. I always enjoy moving around the course for TTs/Criteriums more than just standing in one place.
- Depending on how much you get to go to, it's worth getting to the start for a race - especially if it is possible to roam around all the team buses and soak up the atmosphere.

After having watched it for the 10th time probably, I just have to ask here:
Who has seen The Return of the Killer Tomatoes? If you haven't, you should. It's great.
Plot is absurd, cast is great (young George Clooney and an Olympic Gold winner swimmer), real fun to watch.
I highly recommend this
And on the item, I would also recommend Black Dynamite.
Just two light, fun movies for someone who wants to have an evening of laughter. |

Apparently Rotten Tomatoes don't like Killer tomatoes because they gave these killer tomatoes a 0% rating.

Damn, all the people who believe in the crazy Eurabia need to educate themselves. I was just reading an article where the use of it was discussed. Unfortunately, it seems like there are some people who like to spread it just to incite hatred and fear.

Hey, education is important, but big biceps are importanter.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

If you liked the Lance Armstrong gimmick, I'm afraid I've got some bad news..
Can we get some decorum at this forum please?
You can all go back to your ramshackle homes and your miserable lonely lifestyles.
Thank you

Yeah definitely but it feels like I should see at least one race if I get the chance. There are some sprint stages that finish not too far from Rome so they might be worth seeing.

It's the first time in my whole life where that I got rewarded for being absolutely non-productive at all:
I got bored of something I did so I looked around at Twitter and found a doable competition - guess the weight of the whole Super Rugby competition.
I did some maths and got my answer down and it was the closest one of all guesses.
I wonder how fast a mail delivery from Australia to Germany is
