Nerz 21st. Not too bad actually, just a shame that the rest went on strike after the first stage. This was their opportunity to prove themselves and they failed badly. Angry

Ladies and Gentlemen,
today is the third stage of the Driedaagse de Qatar and we have a 112 km long totally flat stage throught the desert.
Normally, I would talk now about the favourites but as we all know it will be the typical Start-Breakaway-Catched-Mass sprint and in the end the Germans win.
I am sure that this will be extremely exiting!

Soon after the start, Corbel(BSE), Van Drenthe (CJR), Merlo(VIN), Beyer(CSS), Mol(VCD), Oroz(EUS) and Smukulis (KAT) get into the breakaway. With 75km to go they have the maximum gap of 3'45''.

With 4000m to go they are almost caught while most of the sprinters have arranged themselves behind two leadout trains:

1. Chavanel, Turgot, Coquard (all EUS), Phinney (BMC)
2. Muravyev, Guarnieri, Guardini (all AST), Bos (BEL), Maes (OPQ), Verboven (EUS)

with Greipel being a bit behind on Roelandts' wheel.

With 2500m to go a third leadout train has formed:

3.Roelandts, Greipel (both LTB), Hushovd (BMC), Napolitano (AJW), Boeckmans (VCD)

Roelandts has made a gigantic lead out for Greipel He is now in the best position while Hushovd, Napolitano, Cocquard, Guardini & Bos are a bit behind.

And in the end the German wins. What a surprising outcome of a very interesting stage.
