Stage 19

Its the last mountains test of the race
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta140.png

After his stage win on Stage 18, Konovalovas was dropped on the 2nd of the days 3 climbs, as with 68km to go the elite group is down to 30
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta141.png

And the attacks of course come on the final big climb of the race. Sastre starts it off, and at 10km long, the climb could decide the race still
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta142.png

And Pliuschin is unable to match his rivals Sastre and Pereiro
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta143.png

He does however receive the company of Heras, Valverde, Lloret and Anton
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta144.png

Sastre tops at the summit with Pereiro only around 20 seconds away from Pliuschin
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta145.png

With an unanswerable descent, Pereiro links up with Sastre and now has a minute over Pliuschin. This is bad news for us!
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta146.png

Last throw of the dice... Pliuschin attacks with 5km to go
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta147.png

Heras responds and the pair do manage to cut into the lead of Sastre and Pereiro
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta148.png

Pereiro celebrates the stage win - but will he be getting more?
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta149.png

Pliuschin follows in Heras. Its close, but he does lose the race lead.
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta150.png

However with 12 seconds now separating the Podium, the final TT looks set to be a very interesting event

Stage 20

Now in the Points Leaders jersey, a classification that has long been secure for Pliuschin, the Moldovan's eyes remain firmly set on retaking Gold on the final day
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta151.png

So there were therefore no complaints that the break won the stage today, with a win for Uros Murn

Stage 21

i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta153.png

Here we go!

Sebastien Rosseler was the early leader, while Rafaa Chtioui set a time that would eventually take 15th place, good riding from the Tunisian.

David de la Fuente starts the day in 15th overall, he will drop a couple of spots, but great riding nonetheless
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta154.png

Matea Kvasina secured 10th overall as he took 2nd at the finish, behind Rosseler
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta155.png

Manuel Lloret produced a storming ride to take the lead by 36 seconds from Rosseler
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta156.png

Lloret's ride also meant that he took 7th overall away from Igor Anton
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta157.png

But lets face it, it is the Top 3 who are the only ones of interest. Separated by 12 seconds after over 76 hours of racing.

But Carlos Sastre was never going to improve upon his placing, and must settle for 3rd
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta158.png

Pliuschin v Pereiro. 7 seconds. Could go either way
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta159.png

At the first checkpoint Pereiro goes 4th with Pliuschin 11th, Pereiro has so far gained 6 seconds
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta160.png

The second check now and its getting closer. Pereiro 6th, now just 4 seconds ahead of Pliuschin in 10th
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta161.png

Finishing strongly, Pliuschin can only hope he has done enough. It's 4th place at the finish
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta162.png

Oscar Pereiro can see the finish line, overall victory is so close for him
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta163.png

He crosses the line - and whats his time? Who has won the Vuelta?
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta164.png

Pliuschin has definately beaten Pereiro in the ITT - but has he taken the 8 seconds needed?

Manuel Lloret is celebrating the stage...
i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/SportingNonsense2/DFL/vuelta167.png
