That's great news! Ovechkin really deserves to stay in Katusha. |

So, arguably the hottest young talent in the sport is out for a year with a broken leg, they keep him on the squad for that whole year, and then when he's finally able to ride they tell him to sod off?
I know Tchmil is dumb as a rock, but isn't this a little too much?
Unless Kritskiy is going back down to the CT team to gain form, in which case it makes some sense.

No smoke without fire.
Van den Broeck confirms that his agent had talks with Saxo Bank.
https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/riis-...substitute
I still don't quite see why. It appears that Riis wanted to sign him as a replacement for Contador, and that it didn't lead to a contract due to the uncertainty of the Contador case.
But obviously, Riis must have known from the very beginning that there'd be no conclusion in the Contador case anytime soon, so why even bother contacting Van den Broeck's agent in the first place? |

Hester is a good rider
But is he any good on the road? Sobota is also decently talented, but the team is utter crap atm.
Michael Rasmussen >>>>>>> The next. They need some rider with the potential to do a result of their own. a >>> rider at min...
I'm sure I didn't get your ">>>" insinuations. Sure, the team is currently equal to Concordia or LRØ / Marstrand, but it's still a decent team in it's own right. They were established 4 weeks ago. Give them some credit, man.
Some credit? If the team have any ambition of going to any of the bigger race within a 2 year period, which they have indicated, then they need more than just below-sub-top riders. I know they are danish talents, but could you imagine any of them being able to survive a flat 180km Tour de France stage in s.t. as the winning sprinter? Because I couldn't. Maybe Michael Reihs, but the others would die if they tried.
You have a point, but I'm not saying "they're going to the TDF" or "they're an overall awesome team who'll win everything". We know they wont.
They do, however, have to start somewhere and from that point of view, their lineup isn't too bad. There's lots of room for improvement, and there's a general lack of experience etc., but I think we ought to give them credit for what they're doing. Heck, it might work.
I'm not a rasmussen-fanatic, I just like seeing a new continental team rising from the ashes of Designa and Capinordic. |

Lots of rumours already about the new Australian top team GreenEdge Cycling (the one backed by Jayco = more 'serious' and realistic than Pegasus).
Bobridge and the Meyer brothers are said to be in talks with the team, and the latest rumour is that Richie Porte is on his way. |

I doubt Richie being on his way, seeing as he just got a lot of responsibility with Saxo. Also, I seem to remember him saying something about "honoring the length and terms of the contracts he signed", so he's definitely not going anywhere this year. He could be transferring next season, though. |

Since there's not a GreenEdge Cycling team this year, I thought it was obvious that I talked about next year (where his contract with Saxo Bank has expired) |

Random thought of the day:
Riis has precious little money. He used most of it on Contador and his little helper elves who Contador demanded. Now he's without Contador and has a ton of money tied up on the helpers he likely didn't want or need (Navarro being the obvious exception), which he can't use on better riders
*supresses laughter*
Go on Bjarne. Turn Nuyens into a Tour contender. You know you want to! Seriously, Nuyens can't climb. His ego is too heavy.

Those helpers don't HAVE to be bad for Saxo. If Porte steps up (and possibly Anker Sørensen or Navarro in the Vuelta), they may be able to build something good - It'll take at least this year to test constellations and riders, though.
the situation is sucky, I admit. Hang in there, Saxo!

Porte and Sorensen need an enormous step up to make those helpers useful. And Navarro, well, if he goes to the Vuelta to collect some stages, and that's what he should do, as it's far better than fighting for 6th-10th, he doesn't need much help really. |

Don't worry, guys. If Contador's banned, it's not Porte and Sørensen that need to step up. It's Luke Roberts!
“Is he (Contador) going to be out for two years, a year, six months, not at all? That obviously will play heavily if we seriously need to bring another rider in.
“Luke would be the sort of rider that we could bring in if we decide we need another rider because we know him,”
