You've admitted your overweight numerous times, and when you include the fact that you reportedly had a full neck beard at the age of 14, we assume that you are morbidly obese

All 5 (why do we have 5 clubs there anyway?) dutch teams in the UEFA cup have progressed to the next round! Yippie!
In other news, PSV looks completely out of place in the champions league. Where are the glory days when Ajax won the CL, finished 2nd the year after and reached the semi-finals the year after that...
The portuguese teams in the UEFA CUP didn't have a good start to the competition. The first leg results were:
Nápoles 3-2 Benfica
Braga 4-0 Artmedia
Portsmouth 2-0 Vit. Guimarães
Vit. Setúbal 1-1 Heerenven
MarÃtimo 0-1 Valência
But on the 2nd Leg things are looking different (apart from Vit. Setubal's embarrassing defeat):
Heerenven 5-2 Vit. Setúbal (finished)
Benfica 2-0 Nápoles (finished)
Artmedia 0-2 Braga (finished)
Vit. Guimarães 2-0 Portsmouth (30' )
Valencia 0-1 Maritimo (Half-time)

Two players from MLS gets caught using "performance enhancing substances", gets banned for 10 matches. Thats what, two weeks of the season gone right there? Yes, the americans take doping very seriously.

10 matches would be almost 3 months not two weeks.

Yay .. 3 months. That's ... nothing, as usual, when it comes to especially American sports
OMFG, you got to be kidding me... Rodriguez deserves a suspension for that?! Too bad you don't talk about R.Amorim elbow to the face in that same match. Exactly like Sapunaru's challenge on Leo, except one was a foul+yellow and the other was, well, nothing for the ref...
Oh, and about Nuno Gomes, are you talking about the time when he deliberately signalled to the cameras that Braga's players were dopers and only got a 750€ fine? Or don't you remember that one...
PS: I think we are swerving way off-topic here. If you want to continue, reply in the football thread.
Instead of defending your team, you keep indicating me another game where a Benfica player did something whatsoever non-Porto related. I quite understand why you do that, that's because it's always better to change the subject.
Rodriguez kicked Nuno Gomes with the game stopped. That's not an agression? Even showing him an yellow card, do you remember what he did to Quim in that game as well?
750€...Porto's hooligans hurted a bunch of spectators in the last year. Fine: 2400€
Benfica random old drunk supporter enters the ground and touches assistant referee's neck: 3500€.

That doesn't make any sense. You were the one who said Nuno Gomes was wrongly suspended. I showed you a case where he should have been suspended and he wasn't. What's wrong with that? What has FC Porto got to do with that? We're talking about Benfica always coming out on top in Portugal... That's what we're talking about. How is it "changing the subject"?
MarcoPRT wrote:Rodriguez kicked Nuno Gomes with the game stopped. That's not an agression? Even showing him an yellow card, do you remember what he did to Quim in that game as well?
By that logic, every single foul would be an agression. What Nuno Gomes did to Bruno Alves 5 minutes earlier in that same match wasn't an aggression, right? Why don't you talk about that challenge? Or about Ruben Amorim's elbow to the face of Tomas Costa?
And you say that Rodriguez challenge on Quim was a foul? Please say it isn't so... What else could he do to not touch Quim? Put his feet in his pocket? C'mon...

That's f***in justice, huh?
Touches assistant referee's neck?
Rodriguez -> aggression, this guy -> touch on the neck
'Nough said about that.
And Benfica weren't fined 3500€ just for this. The other referee had bruises all through his body due to some objects thrown by the crowd. And btw, by the rules, FC Porto received almost the biggest fine they could for the actions last year, and also, they had to pay Benfica for all the chairs destroyed during the match, so it was more than the 3500€ fine. This year Benfica got the smallest punishment they could get... Justice you say, right? How many teams around Europe have had their stadium's closed for several matches for less?

The referee shouldn't have a scratch on his neck. I said "touch" because the other time Porto's hooligans hurted spectators, and the CD considered those actions as "minors; didn't hurt, mutilate, stabbed spectators". The biggest fine they could? Haha...you wanna convince me that this old drunk guy from Benfica mutilated referee's neck? Haha...
btw, they broke 2 chairs. Unless each chair is made of gold, 2400€ + 2 chairs < 3500€. Benfica's stadium is not a Saddam Hussein bunker. I've been there, believe me, the bathroom is not made of gold.
And yes, I agree with you when you say Benfica should pay a bigger fine. But it cannot be the only club paying the fair price of all fines. Sporting, Porto, and so on, have their part of fines, and their price is underrated as well, so, let's make it equal for every club in this country.
Rodriguez challenging: Quim already had the ball in his hands when the guy stick his feet on the goalkeeper's ankle.
Wanna talk about suspensions? Look to what happened before Benfica and Sporting players before Leiria-against matches. First case: Rui Jorge. Status: forgotten by everybody.
Second case: Nuno Assis. Status: Everybody says that Benfica is a bunch of dopers.
Oh, wait...wasn't João Bartolomeu one of the corrupt chairmans involved in Apito Final, or Apito Dourado, whatever? God, this makes sense...
About Nuno Gomes' case, he simply pretended to stick an imaginary yringe through his own arm. He didn't kicked anyone neither broke somebody's leg. You can conclude he was calling Braga's players dopeheads, but ou can also have another perspective like "man, we should have taken some lines like those who allegadly Assis toke, that was the only way to win that game", or even, "open your eyes, mr.referee, and leave th drugs". Do you think it's fair to suspend a player due to an act with multiple interpretations? I do not.
Finally, I can honestly say that I didn't saw that Ruben Amorim case...and it is not on Youtube...like tons of equal "plays" from Bruno Alves, Tomás Costa himself, Raúl Meireles, etc...

The bruises were on the other linesman. Not the one on the video.

You did notice that the guy who entered the pitch simply opened a small door and walked in, right? That's a breech in security and part of the 3500€ are for that incident. Plus, assaulting a figure of the game, according to the rules, is worse than fan-violence. It's there. It has always been there. Why should it be different for Benfica?

What makes you think it isn't?
Porto's Metro are still waiting for a verdict on the Porto-Benfica match, last year. After the defeat, one carriage was completely vandalised by the fans. It takes 6 months to notify Benfica? Yeah, right... Wanna bet they will never receive the notification?
MarcoPRT wrote:Rodriguez challenging: Quim already had the ball in his hands when the guy stick his feet on the goalkeeper's ankle.
We have a completely different view of the challenge. I can swear it wasn't a foul, you swear it was. No point arguing there.

Yeah, right. Are you forgetting that I'm a FC Porto fan? Does McCarthy mean anything to you? Or Jorge Costa being suspended for something he did 2 months before just before playing against Benfica and, thus, was suspended for that match?
If there is anyone that has reasons to complain about "sumarissimos" and so on, it's FC Porto.

You're not that naive. You know perfectly well what he was signalling. If not, I can say that Rodriguez saw a bug in Nuno Gomes ankle and tried to kick it off. No suspension. Just a friend doing a favour to another...

+/- 80th minute, right side of the pitch, just outside Benfica's penalty box. I'll se if I can find a video. But again, no point arguing. The foul wasn't given. End of story.

Yeah, and I noticed as well that the same guy entered the pitch before but the police didn't arrest him before because they were too busy watching the game. That's another stupid thing: clubs pay fortunes to get policial protection and the GOE just goes to these games to watch'em free.

Probably. Next time Benfica plays with Porto, in Lisbon, I'll go to Aveiras after lunch to take photos of what happens when some Porto supporters (not Super Dragões, those don't have the permission to stop halfway anymore since that incident after a Setúbal-Porto) stop in a convenience store in a service area. One clue: drug-finding trained police dogs and broken glasses in the floor 10 minutes after they leave. I bet Porto doesn't get the notification as well.

This Jorge Costa? Bad example. Another case where nothing happened...

Of course I was joking, but I remember that, at the time of the game, really was a second interpretation of the facts. But tell me, remember that match between Benfica and Manchester United to the Champions League, where Ronaldo shown his middle finger to Benfica fans and pulled out nasal mucus to put on Nuno Gomes' hair? Now tell me if he got suspended. I don't remember that...
edit: 1 game suspension...well, that's UEFA...we surely know that Portugal is what it is...

Believe me, the very next week FC Porto gets the bill.

I don't understand. What does that video have to do with the case I wrote?

Exactly, he got suspended. Nuno Gomes on the other hand only lost 750€. I'm sure that hurts him a lot. It's a whole month's suply of hair gel gone right there...
Harry Redknapp - "I've never even heard of Braga"
- "It'll be a good game for the players' morale, they need some good training and free goal scoring"
And a few others that I won't bother to mention
Yesterday Night
Braga 3-0 Portsmouth, Jesus outclasses Redknapp tactically to such a degree that it was actually quite literally SAD.
David James refuses to shake hands with Braga players or to exchange jerseys or standards.
Jorge Jesus:
-"Same old, same old with these english managers. Full of talk about how they're so superior, but they know nothing of european football, they're always very easy and predictable. There's a reason there are so many foreigners in the english league: they don't know much about the game. We worked all week knowing the opponent would play a certain way. And they did. They always do. They're english..."
I can't stand Jesus, but after Redknapp's asshole routine, he fully deserved it.
Suck on it harry
