Took a short ride today, tbh at 7 or 8 in the evening there are quite few cars around.
Besides getting flooded by the sprinkler system, it's actually quite nice, despite me complaining that there's not a hill to be found in Houston. But I found a 500m decorative cobble section to do laps around, quite fun

After buying a new mountain bike to get back into cycling a few months ago, I have just purchased my first road bike in 15 years (since doing junior triathlons when I was 14)
https://www.focus-bikes.com/int/en/bik...g30-g.html
Spoiler
Frame Cayo Evo Carbon
Fork Fork FOCUS Carbon
Wheelset Fulcrum WH-CEX 6.5
Gear ratio Compact: front 50/34, rear 12-28
Gear ratio Triple: front 50/39/30, rear 12-28
Number of Gears 20
Rear derailleur Shimano 105
Crankset FSA Gossamer Focus
Brakes Concept EX
Handlebar Concept EX
I was never going to go carbon, but this was on sale at a pretty good price.
Weighed up at 7.8kg in the shop (no pedals).
Spent a little bit more than I wanted to for my first bike, but so far it is definitely worth it.
Now to work on the (lack of) fitness |

Did a 130k. Yesterday, but it was really warm. Must have been one of the hardest day for me on the bike. Average pace sucked, but it was really interesting
Anyone uses the Strava app? Should be great to add each other to see what everyone is doing. |

Anyone uses the Strava app? Should be great to add each other to see what everyone is doing.
Check a few pages back, we've got a PCM.daily group.
There's "The Getaway" going on in August, first one to reach 1 000 km wins.
No idea who'll reach the mark and will reach it first, I'd tip rjc_43 if he joins.
I'd say that if my injuries don't heal I won't be able to run much, so I'll probably find enough time to do 1000 km in August. Not much more, but probably not much less either. |

Great, thanks for the heads up. Just joined. Name there is Ralph Knufing
Will be hard to reach the 1000k. this month. Will try though. |

Really great purchase!!! Bought a Cube GTC Pro Agree (full Carbon) last year, still enjoying every kilometre with it. Going on holiday in September to the South of the Netherlands, and will ride many of the Amstel Gold race hills then. Looking forward to it!

Went for only a short ride. The difference uphill was absolutely profound. Beat one of my average speeds on an uphill segment by over 7kmph. Happy. Not so much of a difference going downhill, due to the fact my old bike weighed nearly 20kg. So different to ride though. |

I don't do much more than 1000km every month really, don't have the time to fit in too much distance during the season. All about racing and easy spins with a full time job.
I'll enter it though, see if I can do a second 1000km month. |

Joined the PCM.daily strava club! With cross country season coming up, you won't see me posting very many rides, as I am looking to push my running mileage up to about 60 a week. However, I will try to get 1-2 rides in a week. |

Racing time again!
Since sunday noon after the last stage, I haven't done anything but eat and sleep. Still happy after some kilometres in a breakaway attempt and good riding all over, except from the first stage, which didn't count. 70,48,30,39 on the four stages. About 35 in the GC.

The Getwaway update :
Strydz is giving me some hard time, with his multiple short rides. As I still can't run, I'll probably keep on cycling though, so I expect to be the first in our "club" to reach the 1000 km milestone.
A couple more triple digit rides should help.
Remember when I was amazed at a pro (J. Bescond) putting 6 minutes into me on a 7,1 km climb (cat. 3) ? I did the same climb this afternoon, and not with a headwind this time. I lost 5 seconds or something in the traffic, but with the heavy back wind, I'm now second to him (24 people ranked), 55 seconds down. Maybe with one less bottle and nothing else to do after but cycling home, and a 6,8 kg bike I'd have a chance.
Well, it doesn't mean a thing anyway...
Apparently the son of my former coach has set some best (strava) times on Izoard today. I wonder if that twat will make it to the pros some day... |
