Le Tour de France

The differences are already big at point 1. I think there is headwind, and this could make the TT really interesting. The difference could be as much as 2'30 between nr 1 and 2, like in Ullrich/Indurain/Armstrongs old superdays

if there is indeed a headwind, Sastre has literally no chance whatsoever. I am not kidding, with a headwind, it's FAR more likely that I'll win the lottery 5 times in a row than that Sastre will win the Tour.

The wind always plays a big part. Just like last year the wind was coming from the exact direction (tailwind) that gave Contador the Tour. any other direction and the Tour would've been between Evans and Leipheimer.

Lets hope not we gonna have headwind..
This is gonna be close one...Sastre needed just 30 sec. more.

whatever happens, it's going to be very close. but I still say Cadel has a 90% chance of being in yellow today.

And I hope he does. For the sake of Australia

Confirmed now, there is 11km/h, not much, but still, headwind on large parts of the route. And it is expected the wind speed will increase in the afternoon.

No one can blame an Australian for hoping for Evans Wink

Vansevenant has won! Unless he finishes outside of the time limit today, he will become a Triple Lanterne Rouge

Not if Menchov has a superday. Like Leipheimer last year.

Not really, if Evans has a technical problem or buckles under the pressure, and Sastre has his usual bad tt, then it's definately possible.
The chance isn't big, but it's there alright.

on the other hand...

I don't think the wind will be a factor today. It is just a light breeze. - Danny Pate

A swiss site made a calculation who could win

https://06.live-ra...2526e8cef3

For non german-speakers (everyone? )

They took diffrent time trials from 2006 , 2007 and 2008 (not Prologues) into account

TDF 2006 , 2007 and 2008
Vuelta 2007
Dauphine 2007 and 2008
Romandie 2007 and 2008
Basque 2007 and 2008
Tour de Suisse 2007

But only the results of Evans , Menchov , Sastre , Frank Schleck and Kohl

They calculated the "Time loss per KM" (the worst TT wasn´t took into account -> because someone could have a bad day)

Also they made a own calculation of "Weighting the Results" , results of 2008 counts more than 2007 , 2007 counts more than 2006 , also Tour counts more than Vuelta and the lenght counts also more

They also calculated the duels of riders (Menchov against Kohl for example) etc.

And that could be the result :

Top 5 before TT

1. Sastre
2. Schleck + 1:24
3. Kohl + 1:33
4. Evans + 1:34
5. Menchov + 2:39

Result of the TT

1. Evans
2. Menchov + 0:37
3. Sastre + 2:17
4. Schleck + 3:01
5. Kohl + 3:05

Top 5 after TT

1. Evans
2. Sastre + 0:43
3. Menchov + 1:42
4. Schleck + 2:51
5. Kohl + 3:04

But considering Danny Pate is currently on course, that was said beforehand - how would he know?

unless Kohl cracks completely, he'll easily beat Schleck

Let's hope Evans does a Rasmussen 2005 and falls 6 times

I don't think Sastre would be happy winning like that. Let's hope it is a great stage and whoever is best on the day wins. The Tour de France is all about who gets to Paris in the shortest time.

Hopefully not.

Us Aussies need atleast one winner, and we just won the rugby so im on a high atm. Lets hope Cadel keeps it going.

After all the bad luck Menchov had, and Sastre being held up by the leader system at CSC for too long, I hope Evans, who literally had everyone riding for him (even kohl closing gaps for him), then I hope Evans has some bad luck too

Crazy_Ivan
Cause Evans has been swimming in good luck?

You Aussies win everything! Let someone else have it Grin
