Mosquera isn't superman in such steep climbs either. Bola del Mundo is a climb which favors a more explosive rider, such as Joaquim.
Nibali was stronger than Mosquera in Xorret de CatÃ, and this climb is basically as if you started to climb the Xorret right after the top of Navacerrada. Navacerrada is a very easy climb, so if Nibali gets to the top of Navacerrada with enough strenght left in his legs, he can do it.
I still have the feeling that Mosquera's gonna win, but I think that Nibali hasn't it that hard. |

If Euskaltel or Mouncou... eeh.. Cofidis are in the breakaway.. probably Liquigas wont work to catch them. For Nibali would be better that the bonus time don't belong to the GC contenders.
Nibali in red and Nieve will repeat his victory! |

Well, I'm torn.....
I want Nibali to win because that's who I bet on in the betting section, but I'd actually like to see Mosquera win!
As others have said, I think the time bonuses may be crucial! |

Actually Navacerrada is a bit like Andorra. So if they can wear out Nibali on that part already (like on Andorra), he is going to totally collapse when they reach the steeper ramps
There is a big difference between a (short) steep climb right from the foot like Xorret de Cati, where indeed, you need to be explosive. And a steep part after already climbing for 19km
You cannot compare that. |

I'm still annoyed Antón's crash potentially lost me 1,000PCM$...typical
Besides the battle for red, it will be fascinating to see who takes 3rd, because looking at the standings, if Velits cracks, any one of 7 riders could possibly make the podium. |

I'm not comparing, just using references to show that Mosquera isn't exactly super strong in the steeper climbs. If Nibali is cooked (either totally or partially) when they get to the top of Navacerrada, Mosquera will have it in his hands. If Mosquera hasn't been able to put Nibali in problems by then, I don't see Nibali losing enough time, unless he fucks it up by trying to obsessively follow Mosquera's wheel, as he sometimes does (like in Andorra). |

I know that Mosquera is not strong on the steeper climbs (he is not a lightweight like Anton), but, look at leasts years La Pandera and there he actually made the difference on the steeper parts.
I believe only Sammy Sanchez could stay with him in the end.
Valverde, Gesink, Evans and Basso could not.
And I rate Nibali below all four of them when it comes to climbing ability.

90 degree left turn with 1.5 km left, then once more at 1.1 km left.
Important to stay in the front
