Most of the stage took place on the World Championship 2011 route. I certainly doubt that the hill (Geels Bakke or whatever it's called) will make any difference.
Also, Fuglsang took his 3rd overall win in the race. |

A Breton, or, shall I say more, a guy from Finistère won the juniors world championships (Olivier Le Gac is his name).
The French should thank us we're there, Gérard in 2002, Le Bon 2008 and Le Gac 2010, all Bretons.
Le Gac is very promising actually, he was already leading the national junior ranking, won 2 legs of the national challenge, and one leg (1st stage GC of the Nations Cup), all that being in his first junior year. Really impressive. |

So was Le Bon....but so far as a pro.....yeah...
EDIT: I don't mean Le Bon isn't going to be a great rider. I just mean...patience
Gérard, on the other hand....

And now the french over hype him, put too much pressure on him and he fails right?
Well, isn't that how all promising French riders happen?

They actually got a pretty good generation..
but i keep saying that each year and each 'generation' somehow never makes it to the top.

Gérard, on the other hand.... Yeah, I know that. I rode against Gérard, in my young years. Nobody ever looked at him as the most talented guy around or anything, and he was quite lucky to win his world title (you always need some luck, even when you're the strongest, but Gérard was far from being the strongest).
Really, the most promising riders I've seen which were more or less my age or slightly older were : Naulleau (got sick in his second junior year, never fully recovered, once turned pro but never made it anywhere, but he was by far the most promising guy), Vaugrenard (he had no sprints, which has changed a bit, but could ride faster than anyone else), and Le Mével.
Gérard is not even in the top 20 of the most talented guys I've seen or raced against.
I don't know the young guys that well. But for Le Bon... Just like Matthieu Halléguen (they're buddies, aren't they ?), there are some "medical" reasons why they're probably closer to their potential level than some others. Erm...
I don't know Le Gac at all though, I just know he's got brothers which are a couple of years younger and older and ride at a good level.

Oslo Grand Prix just finished, criterium race in Oslo with a Hagen, Hushovd, Andy, and lots of Norwegian amateurs. (Including a guy missing a leg).
It is so lame ****, i had a feeling before that Edvald was going to win with ease, but what happened was just so lame.
First laps, usual amateur attacks, but then on the last 5 laps or so, group of 10 riders (Including Hushovd, Andy, Hagen).
Then with 4 laps to go, Hushovd attacks, Sky riders (Nordhaug and Arvesen) go to the front and chase him down.
Then, 2 laps to go, Andy attacks, and is countered by ..... you guess - Hagen. And then the group slows down completely, and Andy and Edvald got a huge gap immediately. And then on the run in, Andy slowed down completely, and Edvald goes past and wins.
And after the race Norwegian TV starts speaking big words how amazing it was, beating Andy, Hushovd, looking good for Worlds blahblah.
Who doesn't know that the outcome is known before the race? |

Because most Norwegian TV (none cycling) people and fans still know jack sh*t about cycling? ;-)
It's the same when Backstedt won Paris Roubaix. People started to ask the swedish commentators if he could win the Tour. They couldn't understand that was impossible |

people with no insight in cycling think that "oh, he won that (local amateur crit) race here the other day. He really has a chance to win the tour!"
In fact, that rider will probably won't have completed the first stage when the winner's on the podium in paris
