My 6th sense warns me of an uprising of VELITS WILL WIN WORLD ITT fans.

extreme slopes don't necessarly mean huge gaps
it's not easy to gain much time on very steep climbs (unless your competitor blow up, of course)
Nibali rides better on easier slopes and he has had a long season. If Mosquera and his team puts up a high pace then they should have a really good chance. |

what the gap be without the puncture I wonder.
I think he lost 20-25 seconds. If Nibali lost the Vuelta for the puncture, it would be unbelievable
And Mosquera was ill monday and tuesday. Luck comes, luck goes. In the end, whoever wins has the right to call himself the just winner.

The winner gets 20 bonus secs. And 19 sec are definitely possible for Mosquera.
I think Nibali will lose the jersey again and Mosquera wins it.
Damn puncture |

whoa.. i'm not calling the puncture the decider of this vuelta. Just wondering what the gap would be.

The puncture is less decisive of the Vuelta than Anton's crash

Very unfortunate fall by Bos, he hit a motor cycle that had stopped along the road |

Any guesses on what's gonna happen on Saturday? If you were a DS and had one of the riders in positions 4-9 what would you do? Young Mr. Velits has got his work cut out for him.
The battle for 3rd may be more interesting than the battle for Red! |

How can you claim that?
The battle for red will be far more interesting with Mosquera, the better climber, being only 37 seconds behind Nibali, with the thoughest climb of this Vuelta still to come.

Exactly, 10 to 19% slopes on roads like these
If we know anything from Nibali on slopes like these. It's that he loses time (on Basso/Scarponi in Giro).
Now, Mosquera was better than Basso in the Vuelta 09 climbing-wise...
Meh, can see Nibali easily losing a minute here if he is having a less than super-day
He'll need a super day. |

Easily, Everybody knows that Mosquera is a better climber than Nibali. Nibali will have Kruzenger doing his thing to try and neutralize Mosquera making it exciting and full of suspense, but for third place you'll have 7 riders fighting it out for that last podium spot. My opinion, but that is a bit more exciting. |

I don't think you can compare Basso and Mosquera (and thereby Nibali) that way. The Vuelta '09-Basso would also have struggled against Scarponi.
I can't see Mosquera NOT winning the Vuelta on Saturday. He's beaten Nibali on every serious climb so far, and seems to be coping with three weeks' racing a little better. |
