He won't. Next year Boonen wins everything except for the Tour Points Jersey. That goes for Cav. Boonen also wins the points jersey at the Vuelta and Giro.

Why not though ?
It's not like they have same goals. MSR and Gent - Wevgelem are the only two they could clash really.
I think he meant more on a personal level.
As for their goals, yeah I don't see too many clashes of interest. In fact Boonen has said he would like to be a lead-out man for Cavendish sometimes: https://www.cyclin...-quickstep

I'm not sure if Cav and Boonen would get along too well. They're exact opposites.
Boonen is warm and friendly and great and Cav is... well, we'll see.
+1, Cav is not the biggest team-rider, although I'm a big fan of him.
Guess who's back?
Lets see how many friens are still around...
“During the Tour of Denmark, Patrick Lefevere asked me what I thought about it,” Boonen said. “Well, in nine out of the ten sprints that I would contest, Cavendish would not normally be there any more, and I don’t mind leading out the other sprints.
“I’d even be happy to. It’s much more fun when you are on the Tour de France when you know someone on the team can win three or four stages.”
In any case, by Boonen’s estimation, he and Cavendish would rarely line up on the same Omega Pharma-QuickStep team outside of the month of July. “Mark is welcome,” he said. “If he comes, we wouldn’t ride together much anyway. In the Tour, yes, but the rest?”

"I love him, I think he's great. He's transformed the sport in so many ways. Every person in cycling has benefitted from Lance Armstrong, perhaps not financially but in some sense" - Bradley Wiggins on Lance Armstrong

Well, if he sad that it would suck to ride with the cav or something like that, than it will be news. He just can't say it, because that's against the usual way.

Yes, but the point is Lefévère asked him. If he wasn't open to it he'd have said no and that would be that.

Got to remember though that Cavendish at Omega Pharma would reunite him with Tony Martin, who was more than happy to ride for him at HTC, and if they took Eisel as well, then just another solid leadout guy would set Cav up nicely, with or without the help of Tom Boonen.
Regarding the pair getting along, come on, Cav's nowhere near what everybody is making him out to be, he gets on very well with the guys at Sky, but it just so happens to be that the team's current objectives don't fall in line with his.
Fact of the matter is that if they need to get along, they will, and in a race like the Tour, Boonen would play the teammate role on the flats, as Cavendish is considerably quicker, with Boonen going for the slightly hillier sprints. Very very simple.
On top of all of these, Cav has already been teammates with Peter and Martin Velits, Martin Brammeier, Bert Grabsch, Martin, and Frantisek Rabon done fine with them.
Euskatel more worried about points. I hate this UCI rule, take it out.
Only issue is, remember when everyone bitched about how who was or wasn't a WT team made absolutely no sense?
My personal idea? Only the top 15 riders count. That way teams can carry domestiques and young riders who aren't of quality yet without getting penalized for it. No teams get significant amounts of points from further down than the fifteen spot anyway.
Also, I understand wanting to make the sport global, but points from the Tour of Hainan cannot be worth as much as points from say, the Tour of Belgium. The quality of racing is just too different. Maybe give each race a secondary, "worldwide ranking", so within the Asia Tour it would be 2.HC, but would be equivalent to a 2.1 race for the purposes of WT points.

Pretty sure it IS that currently. And if not 15, then a similar number - its certainly not the whole team.

Really? Teams seem to be looking awfully deep then to grab points. Was Sohbani or whatever really have more points then fifteen guys on Lotto? Seems ridiculous. Anyway, the second half of my argument still stands.
