But not a patented time trial specialist (far from even).
To add more to the day, they were faster than Vaughters and Voigt when they won in 2001 for instance and so also faster than a certain F.Cancellara/M.Rogers duo that finished 2nd that year.
The course has never changed over the years. |

The London stages were great fun today, and Ive got a further ton of pictures to sort through now
I need to go look at the sprint video aswell, because I was at around 150m to go at the finish, and Cavendish wasnt in the greatest position there.
Yeah, it was a great day. I was on the Embankment the whole time - well, not the whole time because the first train to Paddington was cancelled, so I had to get one an hour later and miss the start of the TT
Still, really nice to be in London and see the growing enthusiasm for cycling - the huge cheer Geraint Thomas got at the podium for example (I missed Cav), just shows how things have changed in recent years. |

You stayed in the same place? How boring!
I was vaguely in the same area for the TT - the start/just after the start. But for the circuit race, I started on Tower Hill, and ended up near the finish!
My train to Paddington got there early, fortunately! (Thought I might miss the first few starters, but not at all).
I managed to 'see' all of the podiums. Though my view wasnt great, even though I was standing on one of the statue things. It was also quite cool at the finish, hearing a massive roar go up as Cavendish crossed the line first.

Kazakhstan with a 9th place without Vino is obviously a TT superpower as well.

Finally Marcato wins something. I can't think of many riders who would deserve a win more than him. Also a very nice result by the Basque youngster Pello Bilbao.

Meanwhile old McEwen is showing he can still sprint. He takes the double at the Circuit Franco-Belge.

Read somewhere only 14 riders made it into the final standings. Anyone know why? Is it such a hard race or couldn't they be bothered?
