Day D has come. Today we are heading to 4th goal of current season, our sponsors want to see my rider in TOP5 in cobble classic race Halle-Ingooigem. As one of extremely important race for my team, my riders are in top shape, willing to fight for podium place or even victory. But we are not alone here, e.g. Cervelo with Hushovd, Vacansoleil with Leukemans or Rabobank with Lars Boom joined the party. I expect tough battle, only right tactics can bring us good result. It´s quite simple, be patient and wait for right moment. Don´t panic, if some of contenders will attack, just wait. Keep on eyes main favourite Thor Hushovd and follow him, if he will decide to move. Will it work?

Vanmarcke look like to be in great shape. He look invincible. He is like Cavendish on the giro, but on little race. Whit Eeckhout an Van Vooren too on the race, I am sure that you cn reach your goal.

I have established two leaders before race, Steven Van Vooren and Nico Eeckhout. According to their daily form and current situation I will decide, who will be my man #1 here.

Early breakaway group in one of cobble sessions. No possibly favourites here, though.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-1.jpg

35km to go and we are facing to first real action. Coen Vermeltfoort from Rabo CT launches attack, leader of Topsport Vlaanderen Stijn Joseph follows.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-2.jpg

Wilfried Cretskens with Kevin Ista attack together, this is first serious threat. My men stay calm, though.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-3.jpg

Petrol seems to be a bit overrated here. Cretskens and Ista are still in front.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-4.jpg

Thor attacks! Our time has come, Eeckhout with Vanmarcke counters (together with Leukemans and Stamsnijder). Surprisingly Van Vooren hasn´t legs to follow...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-5.jpg

One big happy family, Ista with Cretskens were caught by attackers, Leukemans opens the sprint.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-6.jpg

Thor moves forward quickly with Nico on his back wheel!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-7.jpg

Nico looks very good and goes over Thor!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-8.jpg

He even gains small advantage, finish line is close!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-9.jpg

But Thor doesn´t give up!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-9a.jpg

Finish line...and it´s split.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/24062009-9b.jpg

Unfortunately Thor is appointed as a winner. It´s a shame, big shame, this could be maybe my best win in PCM ever. 2nd place is great though, another objective is reached!

Bah it is still very good. You loose by a mm, not by one hour. You have a very good result for somebody that play on extreme whit Sean Kelly Team

awesome to see Nico in actione, that was unbelivable finish, almost like ive been there, hoping for some more cobbled classics, Nico can realy shine there if hes in a good shape, keep up a good work Smile

short recap of National Championships and other stuff

I´ve joined both time trial and road race in Belgium and England. Time trials were simulated and results of my boys were poor as expected. If I remember well (I´m not on PC with PCM at this moment), best place was Vanmarcke´s 14th in Belgian championship.

I had only margin chances to succeed in England road championship with Matthew Brammeier. I bet on mass sprint, but peloton let go away 5 riders and didn´t catch them until finish. Gap were almost 11min...However I wanted to fight for 6th or 7th place, but lost control over rider (look at Belgian part) and Brammeier finished as 23th. Or 27th? Well, it doesn´t matter at all. Fleeman from Cervelo will wear national jersey until next championship.

My Belgian riders were well prepared for race. Vanmarcke was leader, Nico main sprinter. Everything went good until last 30km, when Hoste with Devolder launched attack. I´ve tried to push counter-attack button with Vanmarcke, but it stayed grey for some reason. When button changed colour, it was too late. Vanmarcke was able to catch strong duo, but was too tired in final part and couldn´t maintain his good position until finish. Second weird thing was, when Nico tried to follow Boonen´s wheel before sprint. Although nobody couldn´t defend to do it, it wasn´t simply possible. "Follow" order immediately changed back to "Relay" order... these two things really pissed me off and I forgot neither save game nor make any screenshots. Hoste is new Belgian champion, Vanmarcke finished totally exhausted as 5th (Boonen and another rider outsprinted him just before line), Eeckhout was 16th...big disapointment.

What next? Next important race is Tour of Ireland in middle of August. I will join some minor races in July too, but most of them will simulate as my best riders will take a break and others are out of shape.

Next thing to do is signing new contracts with some of my current riders and try to bring fresh blood for upcoming season.

Ps: I´m too lazy to check, what I´ve just written, so pls excuse all my grammar mistakes Wink

It'S ok. Also, good result. You don,t have any super champion in your team, you can't dream about win a national championnship this year.

That have happened to me also a couple of times when I have tried to make a sprint without my own "train", and my riders can't keep any wheels even if it is "right there" - without anybody else around. Weird stuff.

(Great story. Inspirational to see such results on extreme leve, I have some way to go tactically!!)
