A study has shown that HGH may only be effective because of the "placebo-effect" and not because of any inherent physical boost: https://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=a...cts-mental |

Maybe HGH won't give you a direct boost, but it's ability to aid recovery seems evident. Many performance enhancers doesn't really have direct effect on the poweroutput, but will help the athlete to train harder and longer, without fatiguing, thus giving the athlete the opportunity to exceede his/hers natural abilities. |

McEwen announced he signed for another team and thus will be leaving Silence-Lotto.
He only wants to reveal the name of his new team later this year, but most likely he'll join Katyusha. |

Cancellara ? Look at Voigt in the first mountain stage i always sais he is doped he won the German Tour the TT and the moutain stage ....and he always drops in that kind of stages.
Voigt was never doped in his complete career, otherwise, he would have won bigger races. And if you have watches on TV, Voigt lost always time at the end of stages, now and in the past.
Cancellara is perhaps a doper, but look t some frech guys, the italians and surely the spanish. I am sure, that sastre is not clean, evans (ex-T-Mobile!), valverde, mentschow too. I'm not sure, that f.schleck and kohl are really doped. Although the extremely good performances of some of the younger riders (a.schleck, vandevelde, kreuziger) seem very suspicius....
you are mentioning all the top riders, so nobody is going to be top riders in a clean race? Somebody is going to be the top riders, even if it's a clean race. |

How the hell do you know who doped.
Just because they achieve high placings..
Thats just nasty speculation, and why are you sure that Sastre is not clean, your not.

Well I don't see anything suspicious about Carlos. He was riding the exact same way he has been riding for years... The only difference is that when he started doing top 10's riders like Armstrong, Ullrich and such were there...
Let's take it one by one.
2003: Sastre ends up 9th, he is helping Tyler Hamilton to 4th. Riders like Armstrong, Ullrich, Vinokourov and Basso are infront of him.
2004: Sastre ends up 8th, he is helping Ivan Basso to 3rd. Riders like Armstrong, Klöden, Basso and Ullrich are infront of him.
2005: Sastre ends up 21st, he is helping Ivan Basso to 2nd. He is giving his all for Basso to beat Armstrong, it fails and Sastre pays for it... This year, several "dopers" and superstars are in the top 10. Armstrong, Basso, Ullrich, Mancebo, Vinokourov, Leipheimer, Rasmussen and Landis.
2006: Carlos Sastre is captain for the first time, he ups his result to 4th, behind riders like Landis, Pereiro and Klöden, but BEFORE Cadel Evans and Denis Menchov.
2007: Carlos Sastre yet again captain, and again 4th, after Contador, Evans and Leipheimer. He loses quite a lot of time on Evans this year, but that is also down to a furiously bad TT Tour.
2008: Carlos yet again beat the likes of Evans and Menchov, and no superstars are present. Even guys like Bernhard Kohl, Christian Vande Velde and Fränk Schleck can form a top 6, so how on earth can you conclude he is doped? |

you put vandevelde in the young riders category, the man is in his 30's...if you are going to make a comment about something perhaps you should know what you are talking about. |

Where did he say he was a young rider? all he said was that people with no great overall results in le tour earlier managed a top 6.
If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.

It's written pretty clear imo "Although the extremely good performances of some of the younger riders (a.schleck, vandevelde, kreuziger) seem very suspicious"
I wouldn't call Kreuziger and Andy Schleck suspicious either really... None of them reached top 10. Andy finished 2nd in the Giro last year, and I believe Kreuziger just won the Tour of Switzerland |

From the veloluso blog. I have no idea who the guy is, but he is very well informed usually.
He says if the invite to the Benfica team for the Volta a Portugal is not rescinded by tomorrow, he'll reveal which Benfica rider tested positive this season, a positive test that was covered up by the authorities.
It won't surprise me one bit if this is true. it is portugal after all. it's just like spain in that the authorities will do anything they can to cover everything up.
For this to be covered up, it's 100% sure it's one of the team leaders
José Azevedo, Candido Barbosa, Ruben Plaza. take your pick.
EDIT: It's important to mention that the company that organizes the Volta a Portugal also manages Benfica's team...
This all stems from the LA-MSS team being uninvited for that supposed doping raid that had found a lot of stuff that actually turned out to not have found anything (there's nothing at all on the team)
EDIT2: The guy says he will also name his source...

Fingers crossed. The Volta is a small act, I'm more interested in the scandal, because I'm such a calhandreiro. |

I was referencing the previous post about how everyone is a doper by Digga, sorry about the confusion it did not quote like I thought it would...I agree completely with the assessment of Sastre, he has been nothing but consistent, and given the opportunity to lead he took full advantage...they always say the yellow jersey gives you the power of two men so it was no surprise he held off Cadel.
With the logic that everyone is doping, it should be no big deal, because everyone has the same advantage...look at the difference on the climbs that Ricco won and how he was able to go when ever he wanted, where as the other climbs after he was dq'ed were real battles. |

I just got home, immediately went to the blog and.....the posts are gone and have been replaced by an upside-down symbol of lagos bike. this can't be good.
As I told someone yesterday: "tomorrow somebody's going to make it clear to the guy that either he shuts up he's getting fired or worse". Seems I was right. Somebody shut him up.

Well, he's lying by saying he only used it during the Tour, but other than that, good step by him. |

At least he has owned up. I thought it would end up like Landis. |
