the point is: math doesn't lie. But math just shows the results, it doesn't interpret them. What you all are doing are interpreting the results. And interpretations, well, you can interpret anything whichever way you want.

Your call. Afterall i already know the answer.
here's the problem, which ever one i use to define you'll counter with the other, my only answer is the two definitions I listed above, and which I said is more popular with which definition |

deadpool, your problem is that you put too much trust in numbers. Which proves my point of you being narrow minded. And it's not ment as an insult.

I don't put any trust in numbers, however, how else are you to measure popularity? |

Absolutely true Deadpool. Because soccer is more popular both by your beloved "number of people watching it" kind of popularity, and also i real world measures of popularity.

I was talking only about cycling and baseball, soccer/football trumps both in both competitions, I know that |

That's an opinion that changes from person to person, therefore, there is no correct way to measure popularity.

But if you had to measure it, then statistics are the way to do it, therefore, my argument |

But what statistics then?
Amount of viewers on tv?, how much tv time it gets?, how many countries watch it?, the salary for the competitors?.....

As we cannot garner accurate statistics on many of the factors in popularity, most importantly, how much people like it, we can only go with the most general of statistics, thats why I used general population, with the discrepancy between the U.S.A., Japan, and Mexico's populations, compared to the nations where cycling is important, and the fact that in america, which itself it almost twice as big as France, Italy, and Spain combined, has almost an 80% baseball fan base, (no one argue with me if your not American, you really cannot know) then you can satisfactorily say that in terms of individual popularity, baseball wins |

Waghlon, I HATE baseball, more than you could imagine, and cycling is my favorite sport, so why?

sorry to interrupt your massive quotingbut my Swedish friend is right here I think. If you measure popularity in a single country, your method is good Deadpool, but it doesn't mean it's the most popular sport. |

This has been a fun conversation.
Now lets get back onto topic with the Olympics.
Yes, the World Records in swimming have been down to the new suit.

Seriously, this is pissing me off, here is my explanation again:
1) Worldwide popularity - In terms of how popular the sport is worldwide, by the measure of how many countries have a strong fan base for it, cycling wins, Spain, France, Italy, Britain, USA, etc., etc. That is much better than the Baseball fan base of the USA, Japan, and Mexico.
2) Individual popularity - In terms of how many individuals of fans of the sport, Baseball takes the cake there, by virtue of the the popularity of the sport in both America and Japan, along with their much greater size. |

Okay I'm done, this is distracting my Call of Duty 3 playing anyway, about the swimming, people say the new suit should be banned, I say no, its a technological advance, not a human performance enhancer, and also everyone is using it, so it helps everyone equally. |

Yes - it's exactly like new technology with bikes - it's good for the sport, but only if every competitor has access to it
