If anyone's wondering, Europa Barbarorum is a mod for Rome Total War which sole pursuit is truly historical accuracy encompassing a solid gameplay as well. Forget about the fantasy units of the vanilla version, this is the real deal featuring actual historians working on journals and other documents that you will most likely will not see on the internet. This isn't a work maDE through google and wikipedia.
As a side note, the most powerful and versatile unit in the game is Lusotana Dosidataskeli (Vascii Armoured Shock Infantry) , from the Lusotannan faction. That is an ancient name for Lusitana, or the Lusitans, the people of the western Iberian peninsula, which is today called... Portugal.
The Lusotana Dosidataskeli were such a dreadful infantry force that they were copied in style and armour into the Seleukid Empire, the Thorakitai Argyraspidai. The tribes of Ireland also had their "copied" version, known as the "Black Men", or the Goidilic Uachtarach DuboGaiscaocha (Goidilic Armoured Shock Infantry).
Here's something to stir you up. The Lusotana Dosidataskely are the 3 top-middle row units. Click on the link following the image for more info.

too bad. they finally made the AI half-decent. difficulty levels finally impact on the AI's intelligence instead of just bonuses. instead of the laughable AI of Rome.
now if only the Total Realism guys would do a mod for it. unfortunately, they don't just do mods. they change the game's core code, so any mods they may make are still years away.

just recieved new graphics card, started the game up and it worked
will install the newset patch now, then play on it for a while and probably end up buying Kindoms

ah I have to start playing it again, Lands to Conquer is the best imo, even though I dont have the newest version im having lots of fun with it
EDIT: lol I also dont have the newest patch, guess I have to update my MTW

I personally enjoy the Lands To Conquer mod, makes the game more of a challenge and therefore imo nicer but I just read a thread about a mod called Stainless Steel which looks very good aswell

Im now playing with the Byzantine Empire and having loads of fun again *And with FM08 being opened on the 25th of december, this will be a sweet holiday *
already have a nice area, but those damn Hungarians just dont know when to stop, they try to take over Sofia like once every 10 years but everytime my archers exterminate all of themB) Also I became friends with the Turks and Egypt so that in case of a Jihad I would only have to deal with the Moors, first time it worked but the 2nd time the whole Islamic world decided to stab me in the back. I owned Egypt, Turkey...but then the final Moorish army takes it over, I had some major financial problems after that but now I took over Constantinople, the Turks aren't attacking me and the Venetians have stopped the war for now which means that Hungary is my only real enemy atm. Also I allied with the Mongols and they are now happily slaughtering Egypt with Turkey in sightB) Now im just praying that they wont break the alliance cos fighting those Mongols sure is tough

When playing as Denmark, it is possible for you to form the Union of Kalmar. In order to do this you must first conquer Sweden. After taking control of these settlements you must then kill the Norwegian king, either through assassination or a direct battle. After forming the union, Denmark will take on a new banner, gain access to all the existing settlements and armies of Norway, and unlock the ability to build three new units.

I was talking about small features such as those that are available for all factions, but you're free to conquer the americas, europe, middle east as long as you're able to
