Super Fabian!
Just days after we bigged him up for an epic EPIC part 2 he goes and wins here. What a guy!
Bring it on Quickstep and co. |

Jan Barta, 23rd. We can live with that.
Thanks for your reports, Ian.

In the final days before we start racing again, Vacansoleil has become available again. A few continental teams are still free as well, while others are available for co-management. Follow the link in my sig!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

... says confidently the guy who put Paris - Roubaix Top 10 as easy goal.
Looking forward to the cobbles battle from the viewpoint of Team NetApp's mighty irrelevant Headquarters. We may make some Boonen & Stybar <3 Fanshirts for Ronde and Paris-Roubaix.

Honestly - isn't it easy? Ok, maybe super easy, but it doesn't matter.

no not that way, I just don't like classics and my team is not in the Giro (but I presume that Jesleyh is exited so in the end, it doesn't even matter )

Ronde Van Vlaanderen
The second Monument of the year had 3 clear favourites. Fabian Cancellara, having won Milan - San Remo and the European Continental Championships, was clearly in a winning mood, though on the cobbles it wasn't working for him this year. Tom Boonen dominated Het Volk, Dwars Door Vlaanderen and E3, but he and his strong team failed massively in Wevelgem. Peter Sagan won Wevelgem, and with podiums in San Remo and E3 he's on top of the rankings, though he's not a top cobbler.
The early break saw rookie Löwenherz, way to go in your first race! Other young riders we can expect here are Pal, Sithembile, McDermott and Khamse Khamphan.
Leukemans is the first big name to attack, form quite far actualy. Does Vacansoleil's manager have a plan? Lixandru joins him and Eisel follows. They make it to the early breakaway and start shifting.
In the back, there are gaps forming and closing on each cobbled hill, Belkin, Radioshack and Saxo are forced to chase a lot. A strong BMC team decides to send Van Avermaet ahead, to put pressure on Quick Step.
Boonen is obviously very strong this year, on the Paterberg, where Pozzato made him suffer last year, he repays the favour, even dropping Cancellara, who had to do a lot of chasing already, in the process!
It's Van Avermaet versus Boonen now. Boonen comes really close, but each uphill section Van Avermaet takes a few seconds again.
Almost there
Last Oude Kwaremont
Last Paterberg
But no! This one goes to Greg Van Avermaet! The often forgotten rider holds off Boonen to win the Ronde Van Vlaanderen, what a victory for him!
Boonen comes in second, so close to his 4th victory. Sagan get third after a lot of chasing. Cancellara can't even get 4th, as he is beaten in the sprint by young Peter Pal. Vanmarcke gets 6th after an anonymous race, followed by a strong Sithembile, Turgot and Chavanel. Pozzato completes the top 10.
