If this happens again, we're gonna have to vote SN for admin of the year.

Happy Mubarak? Sorry I don't want to offend you but I had to...
I thought the two Eid's were Eid al-(something I forgot) and Eid al-(something else I forgot.)

Yeah, we have Eid-al Fitr after Ramadan (it's this now). Ramadan is whole month of fasting (practicaly not eating anything from point where sun rises to the point when sun sets) , and we have Eid al-Adha which is on 15th October 2013.
And i am not offended, i just wanted to say that it's Eid, but didn't want to go into details, since not pretty much guys knows about it. I really like when somebody knows many things about other religions (like i do for Christianity, precisely Orthodoxy).

The average, healthy person, will use about 8% of their brain at a normal time. They are capable of 10.1%, but never use that much. This data was from 5 years ago, but was a 5000 person test by the NSF. It may be inadequate now, but that was accurate a while ago.
Talk about evolution...using 2% more of the brain in 5 years!!!
Some things never change and they say that the next generation (born in 2001-2010) will be the dumbest generation ever....
I wonder why.

Well, I know a few main things about muslim and I am lutherainian Christian, but I am very interested in the Far East religions as Hindu, Buddha and Tao etc. And every religion as Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism is from Hindu and the so called nine incarnations of Hindu. It's very interesting!

Eid-al Fitr is when there is a big feast afterwards, right?

I think so. Good to have things return to normal.

As the pure atheist, can i have the heretic question?
How is someone supposed to not eat for the whole day and stay healthy and sane? I found this incredibly stupid. Invisible power is saying you through the piece of paper that you are forbidden to act as the human being and eat? So you are starving whole day and after the sun sets, you go and eat the whole refridgiator or what?
I think i get it now, why those people are so angry all the time, i would go mental too, if i was starving.
And yeah, i am laughing to religion, no matter which one. It is for people who does not want to take responsibilities for their actions and their lives.

I was on the same line of thinking when a friend of mine passed out during yom kipur. The worst part about it in fact is that when our teacher asked us if we are going to fest some girls said they are going to fest because they want to loss weight
Admir: isn't eid al fitr some important meal at the end of Ramadan? If not, I officially forget everything from Arabic/Islam class

Let me start by saying I'm totally against organized religion and it's totally like organized crime, or anything organized really: doesn't work, power-hungry mentals!
But modern man does eat a lot, really, a lot. We could do with less food. I'm not saying it's healthy not eating at all at sunlight, but we could easily do with, say, 2 meals a day.
And, also, your mind can be a powerful help towards a healthy life without all the western "health" tips. Because those are all just commerce. (but I'm guilty too, drinking a "healthy" morning yoghurt ) |

Well, metabolism undergoes a few modifications, as well as the inner biological clock.
As Ian said, we could do with much less food (depends what you do during daytime though, if you run marathons or something you can't really afford much less food). |

I agree men can eat less, but that is not the thing i was talking about.
I would count as normal if somebody was eating less, because he thinks it is healthy and it came from his mind. But no eating at all during the day, because you are supposed not to, or you will be smashed by imaginary person? Or because everyone around does so....stupid and act of being a sheep without own decisions.

The act of sacrifice can help you feel closer to the relevant deity, the act of self-denial is partly an act of respect, but a day of fasting can also at least imho, help to increase your bond with in my case, God.
I also find that the decision to forego food doesn't leave me hungry, "the lord is my shepherd, i'll not want" being an apt phrase for the way i feel about it all. Whilst you may feel hungry, i don't find myself wanting to eat, and I tend to find that I will strengthen my bond with god by sodoing

Oh but I agree.
Like it's not sufficient to be good for itself, for the good of mankind or something like that, people feel they have to be good (or bad when it comes to various extremists), because they fear an over-aged hazy dude with a beard living in the sky or somewhere above our heads will punish them if they're not.

Okay Avin, but you don't have to be sarcastic and arrogant when saying your opinion. You're older, but i really had to tell that.
In my opinion, that's something traditional, something that more than bilion people does on this world,so i do. For a reason,i take all of these hungry guys starting from my own town, going to Bosnia-Tunisia finishing at worst place, Pakistan. On other side, Ramadan is month for giving sadekatul-fitr. That's basicaly (not entering details) giving money to poor people. Also,it's just not month for not eating, it has it's soul, and there is actually much, much more than just not eating.
If you're atheist, just keep your religion (?) and please don't discuss other religions, just not in that way. I am 15 now,and smart/old enough to realize some stuff, and this is way i am going. Cheers, sorry for bad english , btw.

I'm not about to force my beliefs on you Avin, but the sarcastic comments aren't necessary either. My choice to follow christianity is very similar to your decision not to believe, In my life several things have happened to me which I can't explain, you may say they are just unlikely events, but for me I have a different answer
