This is probably the queen stage of this year's edition of Paris-Nice . 4 climbs on the route and the only uphill finish , on a very difficult climb . Côte de la Croix Neuve is a short , 4 km climb , but very steep , with portions of over 10% . In 2010 Contador won in Mende and in 2012 Westra finished first . Both of them are now in the race so we must be very careful .
The race
A 7-man break-away was formed soon after the start : Roux , Zabriskie , Mori , Bagdonas , Tamouridis , Bargiul and Trofimov . With 100 kilometers to go they had a 7-minute gap and the peloton started to up the pace .
The break-away was caught on Côte de Chabrits , the last climb before Cote de la Croix Neuve , except Barguil , who seemed to be the strongest . When we started the last climb , he had a 20 " gap . Moser , Frank and Tiralongo attacked .
With 2 kilometers to go we took control over the pack . Chavanel was first , with T.Martin in his wheel . We caught all the attackers and the pace was a very high .
With 1.2 kilometers Rui Costa launched an impressive attack. He showed that he had some strong legs and immediately created a gap . Our Yellow Jersey was in danger .
Chava was exhausted and then Tony Martin decided to attack. He won quite easily the sprint for the 2nd place...But will it be enough to keep his Jersey ?
Thanks ! He's fighting for every scond , hoping he can keep the Yellow Jersey .

Tony is really in some great form at the moment
Indeed ! He has 97 fitness , he trained really hard to be this good for probably his biggest goal in the first part of the season : Paris-Nice !

Martin riding a perfect race. Still in the box seat.
2 wins and a second place on Cote de la Croix Neuve I think u can call this a perfect race so far !

Stage 6
Profile
Even if today's stage has 4 climbs , they are easy and there should be no problem to keep the Yellow Jersey . We should rest a little , because tomorrow it will be again a tough day !
The race
A 7-man break-away was formed : E.Martinez , Zabriskie , Rathe , Bazayev, Tosatto , Ghyselinck and Wackermann . There were no threats at the GC so it was up to the sprinters' teams to chase . It was good for us becuase we could rest .
With 10 kms to go they were almost caught . FDJ did most of the work , for the French champion Bouhanni .
It will end up in a mass sprint. But the last km has a 3-4% slope in some portions and it will cause some problems to the pure sprinters .
Ian Butler wrote:
If Chavanel could also keep that spot, it'd be great!
We are focusing 100% on Martin but if Chava get a top 5 as well that would be amazing indeed !

Everything is still under control
Yes ! Let's hope we will keep it this way !
Stage 7
Profile
Today it will probably be the biggest challenge for us to keep the Yellow jersey ! The stage is very long , 215 kilometers , has 7 climbs , including a cat 1 climb in the last 30 kilometers and the finish will be on an uphill portion as well . Every big name will attack us as it is probably the last chance to gain some time so we must be very careful .
The race
A big break-away was formed right from the start . There were 12 riders there : Michel Kreder, Joshua Edmonson, Ioannis Tamouridis, Matthew Busche, Matthew Lloyd, Jan Ghyselinck, Manuel Quinziato, Xavier Florencio, François Parisien, Steven Kruijswijk , Simon Clarke , Jean-Marc Marino .
Busche was at 56" behind T.Martin in the GC and Florencio at 59" so catching them was a must-do !!!
Even if Pineau , Serry and Vandewalle chased for like 100 kms the break-away's lead was getting bigger and bigger . With 60 kms to go their lead was of 8' . The Yellow Jersey was in big danger . At the start of the first climb we only had De Weert next to Chavanel and T.Martin and the BOTD had 5 minutes advantage .
De Weert was exhausted and there was no chance that we could reel in the break-away only with Chavanel . We felt that the Yellow's Jersey was in danger so Martin attacked . There were 5 kms to go until the top of the climb .
At least we forced Blanco and Movistar to work . Martin was caught , but we were now at 4 minutes away from the break .
As soon as Martin was caught the other teams stopped doing the work - the responsability was on us and we did not want that so we sent Chavanel to attack . Contador and L.L.Sanchez joined him !
At the top of the climb we had 3 minutes behind the break , with almost 15 kilometers to go . Voecker and Contador had a 20-second gap and Betancur tried to join them on the downhill .
As soon as we were again on flat Martin attacked again . Contador and Voeckler seemed to be very strong and answered ! The break-away had only 2 minutes advantage with 10 kms to go ! It will be so close !
Van den Broek attacked from the peloton and had a small gap . Tony was trying to reduce the gap and De Gendt joined him . With 5 kilometers to go his enerhy bars were all empty : No energy left ! But he must fight to keep that jersey !!! Chavanel was struggling not to get dropped .
Kreder won the sprint in the break-away. Busche and Florencio crossed the line in the same time with the winner . Martin is losing ground and he is being overtaken by riders in the chasing group . How much time will he lose?

So close to lose the jersey but Martin fought all the way ! Congratulation for him as he will probably end this tour with 2 stage wins , Yellow jersey and Green Jersey ! Chavanel struggled a lot , he could not help Martin at all in the last 20 kms , but he still keeps a top 5 in the GC and that's amazing !
Because of the hard work Serry , Pineau and Vandewalle abandoned , so only 4 of our riders will start tomorrow !
