Real life: Peter Sagan took his second stage win ahead of Boasson Hagen and Peter Velits.

13 riders form todays break. With 90 km to the finish they have 8’30’’ on the peloton.

50 km and five minutes straight. Could be close!
Time to hit those hills and suddenly the peloton stops chasing the stage win. With 25 km to go the break holds 4’19’’.
The 13 in contention are Westra, Millar, López, Bak, Gautier, Boom, Caruso, Albasini, Kern, Terpstra, Hushovd, Vorganov and De Kort. A strong group where nothing is certain.

Albasini is the first in the break to attack with 18 km to go. He quickly builds a gap along with Kern and López.
The rest of the break works nicely together and with 10 km to go the break is reunited.

Going under the 5 km mark Kern tries again, knowing that he has no chance in a sprint.

He gets a small gap, but with the final 900 m hill left he is caught by Boom, De Kort, Hushovd, Millar and Westra. The five seem to be a level above the rest in the sprint.

Boom takes full advantage of the incline. Hushovd will be disappointed he didn’t win this one.

In the peloton Nibali gives it a good punch surprising the other favourites winning a further 18 seconds on the competition.

Real life: Greipel won ahead of Petacchi and Veelers.

The first 40 km no one can get away but with 100 km to go 10 riders have 7’30’’ to the peloton.

5 km to go and the sprint trains have established in front preparing for a well structured sprint.

Orica – GreenEdge is first heading into the last 3 km. Greipel still has 2 helpers in front of him, but Cavendish only has Boonen left – and the Belgian decides to start his leadout early.

A brilliant leadout that catch everyone unprepared and with 1,4 km to the line Cavendish starts his sprint with Kristoff on his wheel and the others coming from behind.

No one gets anywhere near the Manxman today!
