Race Report
Paris - Troyes
Welsh climber Sutton was clearly excited about starting his season at last as he attacked straight from the gun. He was joined by just three others today as the bigger teams stopped any others from pulling away. The strongest rider up the road was Kusztor of Atlas and it would certainly be difficult for the other three, including Sutton, to beat him if they managed to make it to the end somehow.
Chipotle and Cofidis were the teams who spent most time on the front, riding for Von Hoff and Duque/Petit respectively. It was a surprise to see so few of the French teams active though as Europcar, Saur and the others sat in the peloton. They didn't really begin to chase until the gap got over seven minutes but when they did, the pace was cranked up a lot.
Incredibly, there was just one attack today, as Coyot of Saur Sojasun tried to escape the peloton on one of the many short climbs. He rode solo for thirty kilometres but he was caught before he'd even reached the front group. With twelve kilometres to go, the front group, including Sutton was also back in the peloton as we prepared for the inevitable sprint.
Into the last five kilometres and Sky's leadout was performing magnificently with Zabala and Bakker riding very well, keeping Jaquin and Fischer at the head of the field. Cofidis seemed to be riding for Petit, with the rest of the sprinters a bit further back. However, when Bakker pulled off the front, he held up Jaquin for just long enough to allow the others back into it.
On the line, Von Hoff came from a long way back with incredible speed to beat Petit to the win. Mandri completed the podium to continue Endura's great start to the season, with Lima fourth. Fischer sprinted strongly to a great top five ahead of some great sprinters like Vachon, Jezowski and Poulhies. Jaquin also held on for a top ten on debut, whilst Bakker completed a great day for the team in thirteenth.

Race Preview
Kattekoers
Another one day race, this time in Belgium, Kattekoers will be the team's first venture onto the cobbles. Some love them, some dread them, all have to try and cross them without crashing or puncturing. This isn't exactly Paris-Roubaix though, there are only a couple of very short sections of pavé and only four hills but the weather always has the possibility of making races hard in Northern Europe. Can our inexperienced riders deal with everything?
The final three riders will make their debuts here as Gilbert, Jones and Bracco take to the cobbles. Gilbert loves them, Jones doesn't mind them and Bracco hates them! The team won't have a specific leader as Gilbert, Hammarling, Huigsloot and Oget are all very similar on this terrain and it will largely depend on how they feel on the day. |

Yep, Oget, Fischer and Thompson have all improved a bit which I wasn't expecting. I didn't think people would start improving until late March/April so that's obviously a good thing. |

Really, nothing at all haha? Well don't go asking for directions in the middle of Glasgow, if misfortune ever sends you here
I was inferring that Diego might have difficulty fine-tuning his English alongside Eddie, since his thick Glaswegian dialect might mask the more... subtle... workings of the language. Better? |
