Wow i thought you did better with goals than that! Unlucky but i'm certain 2014 will be better in that aspect
(better than me though)
Yea, I made some really stupid beginner mistakes - but it's all about learning! My transfer season was also quite poor, but I expect the coming one to be much better. I have some concrete plans for the coming transfer season, so it should go quite well. And then again, my goal setting will be much more conservative this time around.

We have just finished all the races for the season and I thought it best to update my all-in-one reports. It will be divided into 3 posts because of it's size. You might recognise this from page 7 in the thread, but this is the full version. I also think it's a relevant repost to the current MG happenings.

Rodas surprised the favourites and won the last stage to claim 2nd overall - completing our official goal of a top 5 result.

We had some ups and downs in this tour. Lutsenko took the opening stage and Rodas seemed very promising podiuming on the first mountain stage. Unfortunately, he crashed and lost time and hope for a good placing overall. Ihlenfeldt at least compromised with an unexpected ride.

It is an African race, so we still wanted to score some points and have some notable results. However, once again a race passed without any stand-out results, but we didn't leave empty handed with Day and an extremely aggressive Ngue both netted a top 10.

[img-l]https://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/Romania_zps865ed1bb.png[/img-l] Turul Romaniei A race with a prologue, 7 flat stages and 1 mountain stage. Abdallah was very consistent with 4 top 10 finishes, but never managed anything extravagant. Rodas rode valiantly on the mountain stage; however, he couldn't beat a super strong Marzano, but finished an excellent 2nd on the stage and on GC. Ihlenfeldt also snuck into the top 10 on the stage even though he worked for Rodas on the climb and finished in 14th overall.

We hoped for a top 15 or maybe even top 10, but Abdallah came home in 17th. Ngue was his aggressive self by being featured in the day's break.

[img-l]https://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/SouthAfrica_zps0983735e.png[/img-l] Giro del Capo A home race for us and although it wasn't a goal race we wanted to put on a show. And that's exactly what we did! Day sprinted excellently and narrowly missed out on a stage win. Ngue rode like a champion against some of the division's best and finished 4th on the first hilly stage and which was the GC position he maintained on the mountain TT. However, on the last stage he broke away and rode like a madman to win the stage, but narrowly missed out on winning the yellow jersey and had to settle for white.

[img-l]https://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/Eritrea_zps00d72129.png[/img-l] Tour of Eritrea Another episode in Africa for us, but . Abdallah didn't perform much on the flat stages, but at least Lemus took his chances in the breaks and almost won a stage when the break stayed away (2nd place on stage 4). Rodas had a horrible tour after losing over 4 minutes on a flat stage and would've finished in the top 10 overall. It wasn't all doom and gloom: he finished 9th on the mountain stage against strong C1 competition.

On stage 1 Lemus got into a successful break, but narrowly missed out on the win after finishing 3rd. On the 2nd stage Ihlenfeldt attacked from far out with 2 other riders and dropped them both on the decent, putting his descending skills to good use. Niyonshuti rode strong on the other mountain stages. In the end, both Ihlenfedlt and Niyonshuti finished in the top 10.

The team had 2 cards to play with both Rodas and Niyonshuti being here. Niyonshuti was stronger on stage 1, but in the mountain TT Rodas proved to be superior finishing 5th. At the end of the day we had to settle for 10th and 11th.

[img-l]https://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/Morocco_zpsbca11cb2.png[/img-l] Challenges Phosphatiers A hilly race in Africa with a lot of difficult climbs. Being a race on our home continent, we wanted a good result - and boy did we get it! Dennis van Niekerk got into the early break that only got caught at the very end, but still had on for a top 10! But more notably, Niyonshuti was extremely aggressive and was wearing his lucky socks. This is certainly a winning combination and that is exactly what happened! Probably the best race of the season for us!

We sent Abdallah for the sprints and some other riders for breakaways. Abdallah did well to secure bonus seconds from a lot of intermediate sprints to allow him to finish 10th overall. Great stuff, everywhere Loving the rider profiles, as said before.
Also great job with the recaps. Still remember the horrible Kwita Izina (gameplay) and your nice victory at Phosphatiers. Some nice results and definitely cool to see those new colors for your project in the PCT now!

I'm in the game twice as long as you are, so I messed up on rider progression in half of the cases you did. Just forgot to level up Zhupa properly. Nice season recap and stunning young riders graphs.

Considering the German-speaking Redecker would be a great way to forge a bridge from our usual target region to Africa, thus starting our expansion to new continents, and the fact that he will develop into a pretty interesting rider for our future roster idea, we are pretty interested in him.
Just saying

@tsmoha: Thanks again! Phosphatiers was probably our best victory and I loved the fact that Niyonshuti won.
@tyrrion: Yea, quite a bad mistake in my part. But thanks for the kind words
cio93: I'm quite happy with keeping him ATM. Our team is based in the Cape area around Cape Town and Stellenbosch. Heiko actually studies in Stellenbosch, so logistically it's easy for him to be in our team. However, there's always an overseas course he can follow, so nothing is certain
Btw, I trained him with sprint and hill. When he's maxed he'll be like 72Hill and 76Sprint. Which I think is more useful than 77s Sprint and 69 Hill.

You sure about Hoffman? I mean he's good, but its very unlikely he'll repeat such season ever again and will be very expensive. Not sure he's that great of a target for you. Otherwise nice and sensible targets to strengthen the team

Shh i think Avin just started jumping in the air with joy haha it's going to be hard for him to repeat it but not many better places he can fit then a African team though i could actually see him going to free agency as well if his wage is too high. |

Venter and Kriek have indicated that, while they are happy to stay at Gazelle, Project Africa is also a team they would love to be part of.
Gazelle is not keen on letting them go, especially Venter who is seen as a future leader. Once the transfer season starts, we're open to negotiations though.

@Alakagom: I'll have to see what his wage will be like, but I'm willing to take a risk on him. Africa doesn't really have a whole lot of riders that can compete like he does/did.
@DubbelDekker: Good to hear! We'll talk soon!

I agree with Alakagom, but tbh I had decided not to say it, thinking that whoever overpaid for him could just blame himself ;-)

Well, why would you say it. It is scumbag acting and you would like to look like scumbag? One is enough i think. Nobody knows his wage yet and everybody is acting like he should have million per year. He was not even top10 of the standings (14th), just good value for small wage in 2013. Flügel should ask much more than Hofffman. High number of potential trades look like stupidity to me , but i am not going to start giving advices which could disadvantage some managers. But one team pursuing its national champion does not look so strange to me
In the end, it would be no tragedy if Nolan stays at Metinvest and receive some training.
Sorry Aidan for spamming in your thread, see you in the transfers, being it about Hoffman,or anybody else.

Hehe, no need to call others for scumbag because they're telling that Nolan over-performed last season, which he did, and therefore will be expensive to get in the coming transfer window. I have to agree with Heine and Alakagom here. He was extremely lucky in a few races, such as Tour of South Africa and he is unlikely to get such a point haul ever again, as he did in that race. However, he is still a very good sprinter, one of the best in PCT, we're just saying that if the price and/or wage is getting inflated, there is a lot of other sprinters around for possibly a much better price.
Though; if I had a SA-registered team, I would probably go after him my self
