Aiaiai, Millar far behind at first checkpoint. 53" behind Cancellara. Has the bad warmup affected him?
Koren now 4th on 3rd check. 53" behind Spartacus.
Millar had a DREADFUL day yesterday - would have gone out if not for Bernie Eisel. Both cracked on the Col du Telegraph and would have gone home. Both credited the other with keeping them in.
Added to that Millar had a horrible car ride to the start and tweeted that he used up all his adrenaline in panic and was car sick.... |

I forgot his bad day yesterday, so it's not that awkward that he has a bad day. |

Rui Costa finishes 3min behind. That's also about 3 minutes behind his time in Dauphine. Not surprising though, since he had some tough days in breakaway.
Koren takes second, Malori 3rd. Respectively 54 and 56 seconds behind.
What's funny though, Koren's time is 1(!) sec behind his time in dauphine. That ended up with a 19th place.

Anyone know if it's raining on the course - would be good news for Cadel.

I don't know what these Belgians are swallowing this year but they all perform fucking incredible.
Vansummeren and Nuyens winning PR and RVV.. Gilbert winning all hilly classics.
And probably if Vandenbroeck didn't get injured he would've won the Tour now De Gendt 6th up Alpe d'huez and owning Cancellara in a time trial. |

Porte is going fast now, only 1 second behind Cancellara on the second time check. |

It's not De Gendt or Porte going fast. It's Cancellara going slow. Martin's Dauphiné time was almost 2 minutes faster

After 3 weeks of racing nobody is going to beat Martins time which was after 3 days of racing.
Be realistic |

2 minutes is quite a lot. Cancellara was slow, pure and simple.

Cancellara has sucked this whole Tour. Is no surprise that he isn't flying now.

If you have seen the results, many riders are doing almost a minute faster than they did in dauphine. So it's possible. |

Arrogant, that's Voeckler (yesterday evening, BMC's Karsten Kroon was in a Dutch tv-show about TDF, and said that Voeckler was the most arrogant rider in the peloton, who was focussed on the camera like looking completely dead and still had a great jump left, so was just faking).
Yeah, he's such a faker.
He faked it so much that he totally lost ground and lost the yellow jersey and even fell from the G.C. podium. While among the 7 or 8th best climbers of the Tour until the day before yesterday, he blew up yesterday. Still he gets blamed for fainting pain.
Oh well... |
