That depends very much on the gap. Hushovd could probably take 1,5 minute back on the descent, but it looks like he has dropped too early, and will loose more than to the summit. There's still 7 kms to the top.
Assuming he has recovered by the summit and is thus able to go down full speed, and can also avoid losing time on the bump that occurs after the first summit.
I don't think he can do it, he will lose too much time to Moncoutie.

Looking very good for Roy. Should be the better on the descent and in a possible sprint against Moncoutie.
Moncoutie would need more than a minute on Roy imo.

WTF: German ESP just sayd that there were some idiots yesterday on the descent, that used lots of water to make the road wet for the riders as also putting lots of nails on the road.
Without the cleaning cars before the riders this could have been ended in a drama.
Just why? What`s the reason to make these things?
Basque seperatism?
That's bulls*it. There are idiots everywhere not just in the separatist movements. The TF1 car was rided by one of them? |

Looking like about a 4 minute gap by the top for Roy and Moncoutie over the seven chasers by the time we go over the top. With 42km after the summit that will be a tough task for the remainder of the break

They've done worse in the Vuelta.
Why would they protest like that in the Tourmalet or the Hourquette? What they did in la Vuelta was many years ago on Basque soil.

Moncoutie looses time to Roy, half a minute behind now. Hushovd is 1,10 behind Roy. This starts to look like a solowin from Roy, Moncoutie won't catch him on his own on the descent. |

Also Gesink is falling back now.
Edit: Haven`t seen him puncturing. So this could be the reason.

Roy did finish a few minutes behind Thomas after being caught yesterday - perhaps he was already looking to save more energy and planning for today?

Maybe. And it may very well be that Thomas is also saving energy for tomorrow.
