And I was thinking Italy wouldn't return next year because they would lose interest from finishing among the worst... Surprising result this year, but in my opinion there weren't really any songs that stood out from the rest and was like "I'm sure that one is gonna win!". |

The only reason I can think of Italy getting votes is the motivation of keeping Italy in the contest, didnt see anything in the song at all.

I must say I lost almost all interest this year since Norway wasn't in it. I don't see why though, Haba Haba was far better then some of the stuff that was presented here!
Ps: I'm not nationalistic at all- |

I can hear the music in the background there and I think many of the sounds they used (halffinals and the music played after Azerbaidschan won) are from Raabs TV shows
I mean as a Cologne resident Düsseldorf isn't pretty but Baku.. I think there is a lot of "old buildings", maybe there is a nice place like a old district but then..
I thought the same about the background music.
Actually seeing as you are living in cologne, what did you think about the comment that Dusseldorf is the capital of Carnival?
Im really wondering what ste's mood is right now. Beaten by jerkward... What a shame...

Actually techically it's a song where you can say it doesn't get voted because of trashyness it's more a singers song with a good stable performance
Azerbaidschan was in my list as it's a ESC song a kind of this I don't know how to say it in english, some kind of "oooh just wonderful <3" cheesy song
@miggi: No Düsseldorf isn't the capital of German carneval, Mainz would be even more that than Düsseldorf but it's Cologne so..

Lena done well, better than any other defending champion in history I think, shows she is still popular almost a year on.
I hope she will be back on a Eurovision stage in the future and I hope she doesn't give up singing for acting.

Songs I actually very liked: Moldova (hilarious), Italy, Blue, Iceland and Switzerland.
Songs that were just plain shite: Jedward, Germany (the intro to the song never actually ended, it was a terrible, terrible song) and Azerbaijan

What a great Eurovision Song Contest, already looking forward to Azerbaijan next year, I hope Lena will re consider her decision not to take part in Eurovision again because I think she can win it in the future, it was always a massive take to win it 2 years on the run and 10th for a defending winner is a very good result.

No, she can't. She's not that talented and her song this year sucked. Germany has more to offer than her, that's for sure |

I may not know much about Azerbaijan, but how can they finance a show of this size with an economy based on nothing but beets and goats?
See their spectacular failure hosting the Eurovision dance contest for more on this.
(It didn't happen basically, they couldn't afford it. And that takes place in a small tv studio).

And I'll shut up about Google next year
Didn't like Azerbaijan's song at all, but unlike everyone else here, I was a big fan of Italy's. It wasn't very Eurovision-like, but I liked the jazzy style.
So, Baku next year? Can't see that happening |

I actually kinda liked the Dutch bid this year...
Anyways, Azerbaijan is a good winner. A classic ESC song. I had more faith in Finland though, and was a bit surprised that he got so few points.
And Berlusconi must be involved in some way...second?! Really?! |

I did like Italy, not sure if I said it her, but I did.
Baku probably won't happen, for one the show would start at 00:00 local time, and thats unlikely to change as Eurovision cares more about the western money making audience.
Secondly Armenia can't enter Azerbaijan as they hate each other.
Oh fun and games in Baku already.
EDIT: The overnight ratings for the BBC are just incredible. Average of 9.5 million people, peak of 12.7 million.
Thats about double last year average. And 3 million more than the previous best peak.
So... who wants to argue the UK hates Eurovision now?

Not many in the UK hate it. They just view it more as a comedy programme/drinking game

New fun fact about Baku. the biggest arena seats 5,000 people.
Thats a bit less than 50,000 that we are saw in Dusseldorf. Less moneys. Oh it's a fail.

Russian oilmoney will come, and next year Baku will be the home of a 200.000 all seater in solid gold and diamonds.
