Impressive by Boom. 4 seconds faster then Cancellara and the rest.
Also Kittel seems to be a good signing from Skil. |

I didn't notice that this year Qatar would have a prologue.
Anyway, great time by Boom. And Kittel continues to be great (and he'll be even more great, for sure.) |

Not the best course in my opinion
Dangerous roads with all the sand due to a heavy wind. Cavendish`s crash indeed looked not very well, his left leg was quite bloody. Also other riders had some problems, when their wheels slided a lot.
Also I am not the biggest Cav fan, I hope that he will get well soon and start with some good results and not jsut crashes.
Dangerous? Lol, it's just corners and very easy cobbles. If you can't steer, road cycling is not for you.
Downhills in the Giro are far more dangerous, why not take them out as well? What a joke, ofcourse not.
It's part of the job |

The only reason the corners and cobbles in Qatar are a little bit more legitimate gripe is the near constant 30-50 mph winds. I still though agree with you ruben, stop complaining, you'd never hear Charly Gaul bitch about conditions being too tough. |

The only dangerous thing I meant was the sand all over the roads due to the heavy wind.
No problem with the "cobbles", wind or anything else.
On some corners there were huge sand dunes and on these points were a big load of sand, where many riders struggled like Cav, Bak, Haussler and many more. All of them lost their back wheel for one second.
You can`t avoid it in Quatar

Then why start with 'hoge velgen' (don't know the english word), when you know it's windy?
Still stand by my point. People should really whine less |

Deep-dish rims (or aero rims) btw, if your talking about aero wheels with big vertical profiles.

I hate to whine, but I'm just a cycling history buff and can't miss an opportunity to talk about it
Gaul complained whenever the stage was hot, and generally refused to race when the temperature was high. He'd just ride with the autobus, even if it was a decisive mountain stage.
In the 1959 Tour, when he was the defending champion, on the first (very hot) mountain stage he saw a fountain on the downhill and calmly stopped, walked up, and spent 10 minutes bathing himself
EDIT: He lost 20 minutes that day by doing that, in case you're wondering

Apparently, Trofeo Palma de Mallorca has become null and void with no winner listed. Why? Due to the teams using two-way race radios.
The UCI commissaires refused to officiate the race and even threatened to cancel the event. The race did eventually go on without the UCI officials, and Garmin-Cervélo's victory by Tyler Farrar over Marcel Kittel (Skil-Shimano) and Francisco Ventoso (Movistar) will not be entered into the UCI's record books.
The radio war continues. |

And is also known for doing the exact opposite when it was cold/rainy/wet.
Yes, it isn't a perfect example, but you know what I was going for. |

(Tour of Qatar)
With a huge tailwind, the break wont be caught. They are flying at 70km/h.
Ususally we get to see the last 50kms on Eurosport, but today we only got to see the last 28km because of the speed they are going at.

The 18 escapees are: Boonen, Maes and Steegmans (Quick Step), Eisel and Renshaw (HTC), Cancellara, Bennati, O'Grady (Leopard), Brown (Rabobank), Arrow and Hunt (Sky), Haussler, Hammond, Klier , Rasch, Van Summeren (Cervélo-Garmin), Burghardt (BMC) and Rollin (FDJ)
What a break
Pity that Boom isn`t there. |

Thank you for noticing.
I'm really hoping Rollin puts in a good showing in a couple of races this year. When he first moved to Cervelo two years ago, he was in terms of raw power even stronger than Thor. Last year they worked on translating some of that power into stamina, and I think he struggled to find his balance. Hopefully this year he has found that balance, and can be successful. |

Yeah thanks. We both really like him, but I think Deadpool likes him just a little more. And knows more about him personally than I do.

According to Boom's twitter. He had stomach aches. He lost contact with the first group after he stopped to take a dump. |
