The last stage seems to be a mini version of the Tour's Alpe d'Huez stage. Should be a good race. |

Oh, so ASO is still able to create compensate routes. That's good. The route looks really interesting, indeed. |

The Tour of Britain is increasing from 8 to 9 stages - with 2 stages in London on the final day: a 10km ITT, and a flat criterium.
We also know it will start with a stage in Scotland, and feature Wales at some point - with the full route being released tomorrow, (Expect a few long transfers between stages, as usual then!)

The Devon stage goes up Haytor! Fun! That's a nice climb, though far too far from the finish to really matter. In fact, if they'd done the stage the other way round it'd have been better. Instead they decided to end in Exmouth, though I guess they'll climb over Woodbury, so there might be a few attacks there. At least I hope so.
Don't have any idea about the other stages though.

As I said in the thread where it was mentioned the first time: The teams are not willing to participate as long as ASO uphold the radio ban, so it will be interesting to see whether anyone show up. |

Isn't it supposed to be part of the protour/world calendar or whatever it is called by now ? So no radio ban there ?!? |

Ultimately though, it is a chance for some crucial World Tour points that could be so significant in deciding status for next year, and that might become a more important factor than the radio ban for some teams

On the route, I'll repeat myself: snorefest.
On the radio ban, I really hope ASO stands its ground. After all, they are too powerful to be afraid of the gang of clowns the DSs are.

There's no radio ban this year, but it will be introduced next year unless UCI chickens out.
Kumazan: UCI, not ASO, I suppose? |

Yep. I can't properly use my brain when I'm falling asleep.

Volta a Portugal 2011
Here's the route, in case anyone cares:
Very challenging as they've used us in the last few years, this edition will lack a grand favourite with the recent decline of portuguese cycling. It may be a very open race, which may provide the chance for a portuguese rider to capture the win, which hasn't hapenned rightfully since 2003.
Thomas Dekker's comeback will be another point of interest. He may be considered a candidate but haven't raced in so much time it'll be impossible to predict his condition.
Anyway here are the teams invited, and the most interesting riders imo:
Tavira - Prio: Vitorino, Cardoso, Mestre
Barbot - Efapel: Sousa
LA AlumÃnios - Antarte: Broco
Onda - Boavista: Cabreira
Selecção Nacional Portuguesa
Lampre - ISD: Kashechkin, Balloni
Farnesi Vini - Neri: Guardini
Acqua & Sapone
Caja Rural: Chuzhda
Andalucia - Caja Granada
La Pomme Marseille: Antomarchi, Siskevicius, Skujins
Konya Torku - Vivelo: Danail Petrov
Itera - Katusha: Firsanov, Kritskiy
Chipotle - Development Team: Dekker
The race starts August 4th and ends the 15th.
