Great stuff from Brajkovic, I recall last year he had a great Trentino and then we saw pictures of him babysitting Armstrong in Giro climbs which was irratating to say the least. Good to see him confirming his potential - Millar, Van Garderen, Thomas Knees etc. super stuff.
Also great to see Menchov and Boessan Hagan back in good form, we always want riders at their very best for Le Tour and hopefully these two will be there then.
It will be interesting to see how the GC changes on the mountain stages, Contador still a big favourite but maybe a motivated Van Garderen, Brajkovic or Millar can live with him when matters?
Other dangerous lurkers could be Menchov a2.47, Van Den Broeck a 3. 03, Taaramae a 3.25, Peraud a 4.03.
It will also be a test of Radioshack controlling the race! |

Contador is not motivated to win the GC, he won't attack Brajkovic.

Edvald said yesterday that he would not take out his best today.
EDIT: But said to day that he did, lol. Anyway, I think Brajkovic is really reaching for the GC: https://twitter.com/janibrajkovic/stat...5772918801

Braijkovic is top favorite since today. But there is a big question mark on his ability on hard mountains like Alpe d`Huez. Same with Millar and van Garderen. No bad climber, but it`s Alpe d`Huez. Menchov and Contador are probably the better climber. But Contador has no motivation to attack, there I agree. And Menchov probably can`t |

I'm also pretty sure that Gianni can hold on to this. Depends on Contador's motivation / form, I guess.
Also looking forward to see how Van Garderen will do on Alpe d'Huez. |

A shame HTC bought Van Garderen away from Rabobank for €100.000
Rather had him than Van Winden.
Ofcourse, with a Dutch father he had to be an awesome talent. |

According to what Sylwester Szmyd posted on his blog, Contador will ride same Dauphine as last year - strong in mountains, but quite passive, as kind of training before TdF.
So, for sure, he won't be the one to attack Gianni. Slovenian looks like a top favourite atm. Gap over Menchov looks big enough and Millar shouldn't beat Janez on Huez. Contador won't care. |

Why don't you chance that to Lance?

Yeah, I talked to him via email and luckily it's not a bad 'break'. He should be back on the bike in 2 weeks. |

Just finished watching the stage (Swedish commentary FTW!)
I don't bet, on a matter of principle.
Once in a while, a friend of mine will ask me to tip a winner so he can bet. I get a bit mad at myself when I get it right, thinking of the money I could've made.
Today is one of those days. Bah.
Anyway, all in all a very predictable result from almost everyone, I think. Samoilau surprised me very positively, though. And Grabsch....negatively.
Was Soler eliminated? Or did he get special dispensation?
Nice one by Cataldo, BTW. A major crash right at the start, and still a very good time (for him)

I keep saying American fans' blind faith in Phinney is badly misplaced and should really be on Van Garderen

Soler didn't crash after all, but he said he had pain in his knee caused by an earlier crash this Dauphiné, and took it easy after he noticed it hurt.
He will probably be fit in time for the Tour, but his form will, once again, be a question. |

I bet he won`t reach anything there. He had one good year in 2007 and nothing else after that. There are LL Sanchez and Moreau for Le Tour, who will be better than him.

Oh please Roturn, you can't tell that Moreau will be ever better than Soler
The only thing he has better than him is his incredible "wow can't you see I finished Le Tour several times between 5th and 15th place never attacking" career... and maybe he's a bit better on TT (in fact I don't really know if Soler did some progress in this), but he has so many bad days in a race, he's not that reliable.
Well... ok... I admit I don't like him... I guess he deserves it since he's not a nice guy anyway |

@roturn: Soler was 2nd in the queen mountain stage in Castilla y Leon in March
1. Anton 2. Soler 3. Contador.
You missed that race? |

@ Lorkan It needn`t be the GC. I just think that Moreau will be seen in a few attacking groups or maybe he tries to get the climber jersey. I just don`t believe that we will see very much of Soler this Tour even if he won the jersey in 2007.
@ Ruben Yes, he was 2nd and that was quite good. But then just 15-20 on Leon, Romandie and Criterium International. Definatly not bad, but in my eyes not enough for some good results next month.
Maybe I am totally wrong, but we will see in the end of July. |
