I think he is more referring to the Tour. Vandenbroeck is good, but more likely a 'just in or out top 10' rider than a real contender. That's why they need wins by Gilbert in the Ardennes |

Jurgen is recovering from a virus who influenced his performance in Paris-Nice (after finishing second in ruta del sol). In Pais Vasco he finished 11th and in Amstel he worked really well in the finale for Phil. He's improving.

Maybe he is way too much clean. He will finish surely in the top 10 in this years' Tour if nothing bad will happen to him. |

I don't think he will get top 10. think of how many better climbers in the world there are. I could see him winning the KOM jersey but not a top 10 in the GC.

I don't know, if there was a PCM bet foe van Den Broeck in Giro top10 I'd go for it.

DeGreef and Lloyd will be in Giro for sure. It will be nice to have VDB too, but I think he's focussing for Le Tour. |

I was talking about the tour. Look at my quoute he clearly say top 10 in the tour so thats what I was refering too as well. In the giro I think he'd get anywher from 8-15 in the GC

Lotto pre-selection for the Giro:
Mario Aerts
Jan Bakelants
Adam Blythe
Christophe Brandt
Francis De Greef
Michiel Elijzen
Olivier Kaisen
Sebastian Lang
Matthew Lloyd
Daniel Moreno
Charles Wegelius

Well last year he was 15 in the Tour. This year as only leader he can reach something between 7-10 i think. There will be riders like Evans, Menchov or Sastre last year, who keep under their expectations.

Excited to see Contadick at the rest of classics. He had "allergies" at Criterium International and now with all this around, I wonder what his excuse would be if he doesn't do as well.....
or maybe he will win (hope not) |

He got that high because he got in a late-race break that moved him up a few places.
I wouldn't back him to top 10 this year.

He won 59 seconds on that breakaway. He lost 5 minutes with a crash in the TTT.
Without either, he would've been 12th.

I guess the question is also whether his presence in breakaways on 2 other mountain stages benefited or hindered him in terms of the eventual stage result
He certainly got more freedom last year than he might as a possible Top 10 contender, and team leader.

12th sure, but add in Evans, Sastre above him, if they're in form again, and he'll drop a few spots I'm sure. Still, this is the beauty of cycling, the unpredictability of some stage races.

The fact that he could've developped as a rider in one year is a major factor that I don't see anyone mention?

Developed more than the development from 74th in 07 Giro to 7th in the 08 one?
He then jumps to the Tour for 09, and drops down to 15th, so if we think he's going to improve as much as previously, he'll top the podium in '10. But I don't believe he will for a minute. And I still don't believe he'll top 10. I see him as a Gerdemann. Touted for great things, but just won't get there.
