Why is it disgusting? You may want to read up on the rules of engagement. |

Are you serious? It's not disgusting to kill innocent civilians due to negligence and laugh at it? It's not disgusting to omit such an incident and, worst still, clearly lie about it and not even retract or give an explanation when such lie is uncovered?
Oh, yeah, a group of "laws" unilaterally made make it all ok

How were they supposed to know that those were civilians? Some of them were carrying AK47s. And from the helicopter's view point, what might have been a camera lens could easily be misconceived as an RPG. The van wasn't marked as a medical unit either. Under the rules of engagement, it's therefore not protected. So it's very easy to tell them that they were wrong in your safe confines, but it isn't so in a war zone where your and other people's lives are on the line. It can often be choice of "kill or be killed."
As for the soldiers joking around, there's not much to say really. I agree it sounds bad, but war isn't a game. Who knows, maybe it's a way of keeping your sanity. |

War's not a game, neither is it funny to take a life... any life (that includes opposition).

Enough said, really.
Did they pose a threat? Seemingly not.
Were they "positively identified"? Obviously not - none of them were displaying hostile intent.
According to your logic, you're free to shoot down everyone who walks around with something that may or may not look like a weapon without judging whether they are any threat, whether they have any hostile intent, etc. Instead of thinking, then shooting, it'd be shoot, then think.
There's a reason why the US Military didn't want this video to be released in the first place. And there's a reason why they haven't reacted after it was releaed.
Edit: There's no point in going into a discussion about the ROE, though. Neither you nor I are experts on the subject - what I'm reacting to is simply the fact that not only do they kill civilians, they also laugh at it, like it was a video game.

Shooting Star's posts reminds me of the israeli exchange student I met in college.

RIP to the Polish president and various senior officials killed in a plane crash today. A sad story.

Yes very sad. Everyone died who was on the plane. It sounds like they crashed during landing in very bad conditions. but I may be wrong.

There were armed individuals in that group. Also, if you look closely at 2:44, you'll see the guy with the camera pointing it directly at the helicopter. Since they thought that might have been an RPG, it makes him and everyone around him possibly hostile targets.
Look, I'm not saying they couldn't have acted otherwise. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't be so quick to label them murderers without seeing it from both sides of the case.
As for laughing at it like it was a video game, I can't I say like it. But unless you have experienced war at first hand, it's difficult to say how they should feel and think. The people they are fighting are the same people that kill their fellow combatants. |

I may be going to denmark this summer.
So I've been using a dictionary to compile a list of useful phrases.
I'm quite proud of myself.
So far I have this

Awesome.
Although the first sentence sounds a little ... weird. Would you like to please a glass of water? |
