Yes, Pauwels was very strong indeed. I was also surprised to see Nys taking third place. After his crash he looked a bit demoralized (or just dizzy after that fall).
I think Nys damaged his bike in the fall and that is why he lost some time but after his bike change he started to recover and kept some energy for the last lap attack.
I was a bit disapointed with Stybar, he worked alot and finished seventh, very unlucky race for him.
yeah, I also thought Nys injured his hip or had some problems with his bike, but I'm happy to see that he managed to do a top 3 still and looked good then.
And indeed poor Stybar, he didnt really do that much wrong.
Well, due to christmas I was forced to watch the cross today upstairs in a cold guest's bedroom, where my granparants' PC from '96 is located. as you can guess with such a pc, the quality of the steam was rather rubbish, but at least I had a one hour break from the family stuff
so ty for the stream link doddy (wasnt able to post back then, since the PC had trouble with just running one IE tab page )
About the cross, at last, Pauwels wins something. he had to wait for it a long time. now I only had hoped for Aernouts to make it to the podium. he is, next to pauwels, a guy who really deserves a big result.
Exciting Race, Nys the strongest and most clever, attacked Albert on the technical section on last lap and Niels made the mistake there, pretty good race
Did anyone noticed Albert giving De Knegt the finger, after the intermediate sprint? My respect for Albert has dropped to zero. What an arrogant ass. I'm glad Nys won.
You know why he did that? He was hunting after Stybar and giving himself 100 % in the chase & then De knegt who did nothing in the 'hunting' of Stybar just stole his points. Albert was totally right in that situation.

Yeah, he shouldn't do that. After all, De Knegt is just trying to get a good classification in the GvA Trophy. He has as much right as Albert to collect the points.
Besides, after the race Albert said he hadn't won because he got in the wrong tracks on that hill. He "forgot" to mention that he failed to reach the top of that hill multiple times.

Those are professional sports tactics. No presents are given away. De Knegt has the right to take those poinst any way he can.
Yeah, Boogerd never flicked his middle finger at Rebellin, Bettini, Di Luca and co when they sucked his wheel to the actual finish line until they sprinted past him. Way worse than just some intermediate sprint in a cyclocross, cuz this was in big classcs. But Boogerd behaved himself

So just because Albert is chasing someone means that the others riders must give the points away to Albert? If Alberts goal was to get those points he should have been smarter en let the others do the work. De knegt has every right to get those points, if he wants to.
I can understand Albert is pissed off because of it, but you should have more respect for other cyclists.
So, the first national championship race has been held; Stybar is the Czech champion for yet another year, without any troubles winning it. Teammate Dlask was second.
