I haven´t watched the race, but Jörgensen isn´t the worst sprinter and O´Grady got old. And you can´t expect Wagner to beat Bozic and Feillu. So where´s the fail of Leopard?

When you finish 2nd and 3rd, but don't win the race. Wink

You can also consider that as success and not as a fail, as they could hardly expect any podium placing at all (maybe with Wagner, but it was 50/50 or worse).

For a WT team in a 1.1 race. That's a fail.

For a WT team in a 1.1 race. That's a fail.

So, if Euskaltel pulls a 2nd and 3rd place in Dwars door Vlaanderen, that's a fail? If Lemanchard and Bonnafond finish behind Visconti at Coppa Sabatini it's a fail?

I hate Leopard as even more than the next guy but there's absolutely no logic in your argument.

I don't think you can compare Euskaltel with Leopard here, same goes for Ag2r. Leopard is a way stronger team than those.

That's what I was trying to get at. If the strength of the team matters, then so does the strength of the riders. And O'Grady lost to someone who is a better sprinter than him and Wagner out-sprinted better sprinters than in him.

The point is 1-10 is better than 2-3 and you hsould be able to sacrifice one for the other. It's the same reason the Schleck's failed at LBL

But 'Leopard fail' is an universal truth, just like 'a day has 24h' or 'the TdF does not officially start until a Euskaltel rider kisses the tarmac'.

You just can't deny it.

I'm not questioning that. I'm questioning the "a fail derives from failing to achieve the highest result in a smaller race" theory.
