Cunego really showed some guts out there today. Many riders would have left the race if they were in his place but he just keeps on going just to finish the race. It's very admirable.
here's the funny part: Cunego just abandoned.
words cannot describe my laughter.
Sorry, but what’s so funny? Cunego falling face first to the ground, having many contusions, receiving five stitches in his face/chin and having problems (pain while) breathing? The fact that people think it’s admirable that he finished the stage? You thinking Cunego’s overrated, and enjoying his miserable tour?

EDIT: also, Hushovd has had an infection since stage 5, yet he's keeping on going despite being unable to sprint. Well done Thor.
To make it even worse, he had an infection before the tour as well. |

well..I have been at vacation for the day. (Thinking this is will be good after alps)..
About isso prediction list...
Now one would place he's bet to Kohl...he is riding over any expetation.
Andy had perfect alps...Ruben is quiet now..after hautcam black day for Andy
Hushovd as been hugh dissapoitment. (was looking like he will have great tour this year)
Freire just need to do he's job.
CSC ...amazing team..how they step out after Caisse show
Vandevelde..good move to join Slipstream..and this team great season continues.
Ricco got what he deserves..YES. Look at this forum..there is difference..when cocky bastard wins or nice guy like Sastre.
Burghart ..jippii...I think people finaly see isso thought that he is most underated climber on this forum. Burghart is one of my favorite rider.
has i am here..defending Evans. You all are absolutly correct..he is booring rider.
Terrible..blck tour for Wyman

between the riders who have a chance i want sastre to win, but he'd better watch out for evans in the time trial. evans may be boring and doesn't attack or anything, but he can definitly time trial better than sastre. |

it's funny that he's being so admired for pushing through it yet when he didn't. It's funny that even the doctor in the medical car says he's perfectly fine, yet people are saying "poor cunego, he's so hurt". It's funny that even Pierre Bourdry refers to him as an obvious doper, yet so many people still back him.
It's funny that guys like Vande Velde fell more times, yet nobody cares because he's not a "pretty boy" like Cunego.
If you want to take it for what it's not and turn this into something you've imagined it to be? go right ahead. I have nothing against Cunego, but if you feel better thinking I do, be my guest

He's definitely better than what he showed. he's a good enough climber to be in the top 10 overall.
We'll probably never know the reason why he did this bad, although probably many who suspect it are right.

Well, in his defence he could've chosen to abandon right after his crash, instead of suffering for 150km. Finishing the stage while he, unlike Vandevelde, had "nothing" to ride for deserves at least some credit. He might be (have been?) an obvious doper, but so are many others. People don’t stop supporting their favourite riders based on rumours, they like to see them proven guilty first.
I understand my tone maybe was a bit harsh, but what you said lead me to believe you had something against Cunego, in which I wondered why. I didn't find anything worthwhile laughing about in his abandon. |

no argument there. it's not what he does that I think is funny, it's the way people react to it.

It now seems i'll be right on two of my three picks, Schleck for white and Freire for green. |

out of curiosity, what was your pick for yellow?
if it was Evans, please join the three-peat club. it's lonely over here right now
EDIT: I wonder if anyone got the polka dots right, and if so, how drunk was that person?

My pick for yellow was evans, but that was never published (although I may have mentioned it early in the thread) so I can't really join you. Di Gregorio was my pick for Polka Dots, but that fell through. However, Kohl, along with Astorloza were the other two guys I considered for that pick |

I had no clear winner for polka dots, but my main 3 favourits were Soler, A.Schleck and... Bernard Kohl
I wasn't drunk though |

feel free. I don't remember being very vocal about Evans before Hautacam, either. I do remember thinking for a few months that it's his tour.

My choices were Evans for yellow, Freire for green and Schleck for white. However I went with De La Fuente for polkadots
De La Fuente wore polkadots for a while though

Btw, Hushovd feels fine again, his target now is to win the stage to Paris.
He was also sick and had to skip the Norwegian championship, and stage 2 that he won he was on, he actualy were on some medications that I don't remember the name of right now.
So we should not write off Hushovd even though he is sick.(Talking about stage victories now, Freire got the green jersey) |
