Double Feature | THE END
Ian Butler
SSJ2Luigi - Poor Kittel Pfft

Jesleyh - Well, I rather keep it short then boring. Reading a story, like writing a story, is voluntarily, so I try to keep things not too long. Only big races get very big reports. A TT of this size, meh Wink

rogvi97 - Really hope so, too!

krisa - He's really good Smile

FreitasPCM - Thanks! We hope to keep it up and make it even better!

Thanks, Jakstar22 Wink

I'll probably do a race later today, not sure yet. I'm not in the mood to do anything right now, so we'll see this evening Pfft

Critérium du Dauphiné - Stage 2

Preview

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/dauph01_zpsa29c84fe.jpg

Stijn: Since today's definitely one for the sprinters, and I'm feeling good, I must go for the win. Agreed, Cavendish is here, but he's not unbeatable, that's been proved before!

Willy: I'll sit tight in the pack and try not to lose time. Things will get hot for the sprint so I'll need 100% focus!

The Race

Willy Wouters

I kept my cool and was attentive all day long.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/dauph02_zps31ff6b7a.jpg

Stijn Van Gent

Two major sprint trains were formed. I didn't bring a sprint train, but I never needed a sprint train to win. Somehow I manage to fight for wheels like the best! I fought and won for Cavendish' today!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/dauph03_zpsc4cdf5e6.jpg

When he went full strength, it hurt! It hurt like hell, but I had to keep his wheel. If I could survive the initial acceleration, I could maybe top him!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/dauph04_zpsb66a90ec.jpg

He didn't give up but I noticed he slowed down a little bit, that's my queue!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/dauph05_zps62ba9482.jpg

Coming out of his slipstream, I think I just made my top speed ever! I was flying past him!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/dauph06_zpsa5d7ca0b.jpg

And victory's sweet! After Gent - Wevelgem, I finally manage another win. I'm so glad!

Aftermath

Here's the flash interview right after the race!

Sporza: Stijn, congratulations. You prove once again to be a man of many talents.
Van Gent: Thanks. Today was a very fast sprint. It's nice to see I'm growing into those like I am!
Sporza: Today you beat Mark Cavendish, by more than a bike's length. How does it feel?
Van Gent: Winning is always amazing, point. After my successful classic campaign, I'm trying to put myself on the map as a power-sprinter once and forever. At age 24, I'm almost nearing my top speed, I reckon!
Sporza: I think I speak for everyone when I say we're both looking forward and fearing that day, Stijn.
Van Gent: We'll see, that's all I can say.
Sporza: Once again you finish it off without any lead-out, how do you do it?
Van Gent: I don't know. I guess I'm the kind of sprinter that can do his own thing. I understand the team is going for other goals, I'm just along for the ride.
Sporza: One more question. Are you going for the Green Jersey in the Tour?
Van Gent: I haven't really thought about that yet. I don't think so, though. Another stage win would be amazing!
Sporza: Thanks, Stijn Van Gent. Congratulations!
Van Gent: Thanks!

Jesleyh
What a great win for Stijn, beating probably the best sprinter in the world(I know you've posted a list of that a while ago, but don't really feel like searching Pfft)
And I must say that I like the small interview thingy you use a lot lately Wink

Wait. Who is Cau? (3rd place)

sutty68 - Thanks! It's been a while (since Wevelgem) so very welcome!

dienblad - I agree! Hope to repeat that in the Tour, of course!

Farmer Sam - For a 23 year old, he makes me frightful for the future Pfft

rogvi97 - I believe Bango-Fostina is the former Movistar, if I'm not mistaken Pfft

SSJ2Luigi - Hope to continue this streak, but it'll be hard.

Jakstar22 - Thanks! Will try!

A bit too tired to race now. Probably tomorrow!

Critérium du Dauphiné - Stage 3

Preview

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/301_zpsd4d770bd.jpg

Stijn: It's a hilly stage, but I expect a rather large group at the end, maybe I can sprint to a top 5 uphill. I haven't sprinted uphill much, but maybe it's something I can do, we'll find out!

Willy: I see what's Stijn trying to do here today. However, I will try to thin out the peloton as much as possible. I hope I don't bump him out of the pack along the way!

The Race

Willy Wouters

I'm sorry to say, but Stijn can't write down a report now. To tell you the truth, he's in the hospital. I'm not sure what happened, but I've found some footage, it looks bad.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/302_zpsb9b42c39.jpg

It seems like he fell on his back. We have no news at the moment, he was carried away with an ambulance, unable to stand. I'll let you know as soon as I know something more! But it doesn't look good for the near future. Let's hope he's all right.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/303_zpsb4e9da6b.jpg

We heard he was out about five kilometers later. It kind of shocked me, especially since Stijn's an acrobat on the bike, usually. So in the downhills, I took the lead, mostly to avoid risks.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/304_zps0e6ad6ed.jpg

Racing up front really has it advantages, when Contador launched his attack on the final slope, I was right there with an answer!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/305_zps74eb36ca.jpg

And Fränk Schleck, brother of my "best friend", was also along for the ride. I'm not really the uphill sprinter-type of guy, but if I can start the sprint 20-30 meters in front of the peloton, I might have a chance!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/306_zps1569c19f.jpg

Froome came jumping out of the peloton scarily fast, but he was too late. I win today's stage!

Aftermath

Well, it was hard being happy with Stijn laying there in the hospital. But still, it's my first victory after Tirreno - Adriatico and my third this season. I think I did good. I just hope Stijn will be all right, and soon!

Here is the result for stage 4, a flat race. Without Stijn, we had no objectives. There were no changes in the GC.

Still no news from Stijn, communication with the French hospital isn't going too well. Though I think he's being transferred to Belgium later today.
See you tomorrow, for the time-trial,
Willy
