Alrighty guys,
Evans vs Contador.
Any predictions? Forecast has it overcast with 20 mph headwind. Definately favoring the more powerful Evans. Levi will have a good one as he is more aerodynamic. also, 55km is one helluva long time trial.
1) Evans
2) Levi
3) Contador
as your podium.
PS: I dont think this is first time Contador and Evans had a ITT duel to determine a tour. I think 2006 Tour de Romandie Evans pulled 50 seconds on Contador to win it in a 20 km ITT. If i'm wrong, Isso will correct me.
well, here's my opinion
about the wind: it favours the heavier rider. which is Evans. the weight difference isn't much though so it won't favor him much. if it's indeed a headwind, yup, Evans is favoured even more.
this TT is flat. so, advantage Evans.
the TT last year at Romandie was the same TT as every year at Romandie. half uphill, half downhill, so no real conclusions can be taken from there...
the real problem for Evans is...1:50. it's a lot.
and IF Evans manages it, it's going to be extremely close.
as for Levi. I'd give 50-50 on him beating Contador for the stage. no chance for the overall. less actually, since Alberto has the yellow which is always a huge motivation
oh well...in a few hours we'll see.
I'm definitely looking forward to it
EDIT: and about the jab you took at me: 51secs over 20.4 km

Well isso sayd it all...it's a flat..wich is advantage for Evans..there is headwind..another positive thing for Evans. Lets find few more and we gonna see how Evans beat Contador. Levi is to far...(he has perfect TT position and distance is long enough, to get his aerodynamics and TT skills to shine).
Another point 1'50 can be little to much against yellow. Heck even pure climber Pantani did exelent TT 1998 in both tours when he had leader jersey (Giro and TdF)..and he keep them both.

It is said that Cancellara has been sick the past few days but I hope he can nail this TT so he can do a 'hattrick'

De Groot finishes only 31secs ahead of Krauss, obviously went too hard too soon but still manages to be 1st at the finish, so far
Host will smash that time when he comes through though

I doubt Hoste can get anywhere. if this was 20km and didn't come after so many stages...maybe.
but not 55 km with a bunch of stages having gone before.
one thing is certain. this TT isn't as much about who is good, it's more about who is fresh.
and if you're not a good climber, there is no way you can be fresh after all those mountains. |
