What a shame that he crashed on 16th stage, otherwise he would still be battling for a place on the podium.

Boasson Hagen has said this himself i think. Thats what they said on the norwegian channel; TV2
No, Boasson Hagen talked it down.
I belive that you are Norwegian, hakab, so read this: https://tv2sporten.no/sykkel/article20...078993.ece. In that article Brian Holm says that Boasson Hagen has mailed to him, that in 2010, he will win his first stage, and in 5 years he will win the Tour overall. That has Boasson said himself...
Yes, I've read all that, but here is what Edvald says himself: https://tv2sporten...082133.ece |

Okay. I had'nt read that one.
But idont think Edvald will win the Tour... As some of you have said, he's more a Fabio Cancellara type of rider. But one thing that is sure, is that he is a big talent.

Maybe it was not a very good idea to track this, since this thread is the most active now
But back to topic.
I think that the 1 minute and 34 second lead Carlos Sastre have on Cadel Evans, is maybe 1 minute little to win. But maybe Carlos get's som extra inspiration when he rides in the yellow jersey... We will see that on Saturday

Why would you track this thread? It's not exactly a thread you need to be notified about to remember |

Before the Tour I thought it would be fun to note down anything that I posted in random threads that could be considered a prediction
Just for kicks, here they are, grouped into wrong and right, so you can more easily make fun of me
Wrong
severely overrating Schleck. If he's still in the top ten after 2 consecutive mountain stages, I'll eat my hat (I'm dipping it in mustard as we speak )
Kohl is the most overrated rider in the world right now. he's done zero to justify the hype
Right
Cunego was never a top climber, nor will he ever be(...)he'll never win the Tour, he can forget about that.
If Freire finishes the Tour, then him. easily. (about the green jersey)
I've said it before, Valverde will surprise a lot of people because he finally stopped doing the Vuelta the year before.
However, he may have peaked way to soon, always decays in the third week of any 3-week race and I don't think he'll win at all.
I think people are underestimating Menchov and Sastre
don't underestimate Ten Dam
Most likely 'I told you so' moment: Cunego getting a decent result but nowhere near the overall win.
Been saying it since early 2007, McEwen is done like dinner
Flame away
EDIT: if you take other forums into account, I also believed Vande Velde was being massively underrated (right), A.Schleck wouldn't win the Tour (right) and isn't good enough to win the Tour right now (very debatable)

About A. Schleck, I'm not going to debate it - just say: "Let's see next year" |

Valverde didn't really fade in the third week this year. Neither did he fade in the last week of the Vuelta 2006, that was just Vino and Kash becoming strong enough to make superman jealous, Valverde wattages remained constant in the third week back then.
As for Cunego, wouldn't he be one of the guys targeted by AFLD and among the "people who had strange blood values at the start but have gotten normal values now, although they're not performing at the expected level" as Pierre Bordy (AFLD chairman) calls them ? |

The Valverde one is half right, half wrong. It's right when you said i wouldn't win but it's wrong because you said he would decay in the 3rd week, and that didn't happen.
I agree that he peaked to early, but he's still in there... He's problem it's one day. One day that he's not with the favourites and byebye TDF hope.

All I can say about Andy, this two last stages he has proved me wrong for everything I've said the last year. I still scik bymy opinion about Cunego, bad form isn't the problem, he isn't a GC rider. |

I think he'll be right up there next year, but he'll still only be 24...I just hope he can handle the pressure of expectation. |

next yr should be good with some of the younger riders that have shown themselfs this year. But its hard to look past Contadoe with the team he has behind him. If Evans doesn't win this year he never will. But i was glad to see Sastre take the yellow always been up there lets hope he can take 2nd at worse and with 2,40 on Menchov he stands a good chance if he can find a perfect tt. |

Sastre lost 1:30 compared to the time he did in 2006

With Contador there, I don't think there will be any doubt about the winner Especially considering the fact that Basso won't be there to compete with him. |
