Wasn't there a TT stage in last years Vuelta where Sastre finished 22 secs ahead of Evans? Even after today, anyone can still win it
Menchov<-> Evans vuelta last year was 1.10 for Menchov. and 2.30 on Sastre.
However, I think now Evans will win time on everyone, but if he will win enough on Sastre????? Hm.... |

I see no reason why Evans wouldn't win a bucketload on Sastre. he won more over a shorter distance last year at the Vuelta when he was dead and Sastre was in top form

Evans should recover quite well over the next few days. He doesnt have to defend really he hasnt got much to worry about. |

Looking at the profile for tomorrow... could CSC do something?
I wonder if they set a tough pace at the base of the first categorized climb and then attacked at the base of the second.... if something could be done.
Or maybe send Andy in a break on the first climb and do no work... force Cadel and Menchov to chase.
Just trying to think of a way to spice things up. |

It's not unlikely. Hope they'll do. It would be good both for race and Carlos if he could wine some seconds or even a minute.

i hope its not a dead race untill the TT. i really hope CSC pulls off some jawdropping attacks, risky as hell and pull it through. and winning on evans with 2 sec or something would be awesome. maybe do like vino did on champs. but vino is a good TT'er and could do that while sastre isnt and cant :/ |

But even if Sastre fails to defend the jersey, the Tour would've been a succes. A man on the podium, another in top 5, the white jersey and the Overall team Rankings are also a good result. Then they might succeed next year, when it's Contador vs. A. Schleck

i dont think a. schleck will win next year either. maybe in two years. menchov will still be there, evans perhaps? but think contador will win it with too much ease |

I've just watched the stage and I swear I could cry right now. I have waited so long for Sastre to win again and then he does this beautifully I have never seen anything like it. I can't desribe it. It's so beautiful.
I don't care what anyone say now. Sastre can win this Tour and he has shown that everybody was wrong about him. Sastre in the yellow jersey. It's unbelievable.
I rest my case.

Tighter than Discovery channels that is for sure. What gives you the impression that they will have a rider caught on something?

It is emotional, all right, it's really a feel of "such a long time coming"
Good that it came, because with his age, he's not going to have much more time at this level.

hint: go away for the weekend and shut yourself away from the news

not many people doubted he'd be a contender. CrueTrue comes to mind
I'm personally surprised that his foul words a month ago didn't have a negative effect on the team's mentality.

His form isnt at 65% - Cunego had made this race his big target of the year. Just accept that he is not good enough in the mountains.
I do think he's better than this. There could be a number of reasons for his performance. Not handling the rough and tumble of every stage being nervous, for instance. Who knows.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you have a far too optimistic opinion of riders and people in general.

I have to say i think everyone was a little over critical as soon as Sastre won. The moment he won a lot of people jumped straight the point trying to make his win seem much less than its actually was. It was a great win and you cant anything away from him. |

Do you mean this forum? All I saw were people praising his win and discussing how his GC advantage isn't enough
