hay fever is an allergy to pollen. that's why it's better when it rains: the pollen isn't floating around
I suffer from hay fever too. Its an absolute bitch if I forget to take my pills and theres a high pollen count in the air. It's even worse if your trying to do exercise. So how come Kloden's only complaining about it now? |

Because he's not doing great
I'm another hay-fever sufferer. Best way I've found is to keep trying different pills until you find the best active ingredient, then dose yourself up before your hay fever kicks in

Yeah, thats what I'm saying - I need to get the pills before I start feeling it in my nose, before the inevitable watery eyes and uncontrollable sneezing.
Hate it.
The point about Kloden though, has he just discovered he has hay fever? How come he has never used this excuse during any of the Tour de France flops he's had? |

You can't stay inside all the time! Besides, in a country like the UK, when its sunny you make the most of it and go outside! B) |

I personally think Ignatiev survives out of the break today for the win |

Current race situation
* Francesco Gavazzi (Lampre), Mikhail Ignatiev (Tinkoff Credit Systems) and Yann Huguet (Cofidis - Le Crédit par Téléphone)
* Peloton at 8.10
If you ask me, they are going to get caught. If the break was going to stay away, more riders would be in it. With the stage possibly ending in a sprint, Mr Bennati will want to get some more points for his likkle jersey. They're doomed.

Who else is in the break? Mikhail Ignatiev (RUS, Tinkoff), Francesco Gavazzi (ITA, Lampre) and Yann Huguet (FRA, Cofidis) they have a gap of 6'40

No pills will do anything for me. I don't get watery eyes, though. just a completely clogged nose that is impossible to unclog no matter what. I have to constantly breathe through my mouth.
the reason Kloden only mentioned it now is because he writes regular updates on his website and only the last one has been written since he caught the allergy. He also caught an infection. he says he caught it between the TT and the first mountain stage.
as for affecting his tour de france, why would he get hay fever in july? it's not like there's pollen flying around in july...
Other riders who suffer from the same allergy, by the way, are Savoldelli and Paulinho.
Actually, Paulinho was supposed to lead Discovery's ardennes classics squad last year. then he came down with the allergy and was turned into a helper. |

Cheers guys. I reckon Bennati will want to secure his jersey a little - he has Ricco and Sella breathing down his neck for it now, and this is one of the last few flat stages. Plus, a lot of the competition has gone home sprinter-wise. Fernandez, Forster, McEwan and Brown are no longer there. Still Cavendish and Zabel to beat though. |

Hay fever sucks it just makes you sleepy all the time too, so I could see how it would be slowing anybody down, plus the rainy cold does not help when you are trying to fight any sickness. |

Does someone know anything about the final ? how long the last straight line is ?
Anyway my guess would be that the breakaway does get caught and Cavendish brings another one home.

Well... the TDF isn't exactly in the spring.
My allergies hit me at different times in different states. In South Carolina I get nailed about this time of year. In Georgia it's a few weeks later. West Virginia in September kills me. It's all about when specific plants release their pollen.
It could be Italy in May just doesn't work for Kloden's allergies... while France in July is fine. |
