I don't agree with some of the stuff said so far, but I'll keep my mouth shut until reunion. Should be an interesting battle, still not thought of any questions though.
So, here's the third opening speech, or whatever you want to call it, of the second edition of PCMDaily's Survivor. I would like to start by saying that both Jesleyh and knockout played very well, and have earned their spot in the final three.
I guess I should explain the way I planned on playing first. My plan was to not be too much more active than necessary, especially in the thread itself and near the end of the game, to not pull any pointless attention to me. These tactics are of course very similar to knockouts, which is a reason why i believe we made a good alliance. Of course that doesn't mean i didn't do my share in the Tribal Challenges, for example I would have played much more of the Pacman game if there hadn't been the deadline, and I came on every time I was needed in the TdF stage winner chain thingy, even though i was quite busy with other things at the time, and should've been concentrating on other things.
I won't do a full talk-through of all challenges like knockout did, but i will but down my view on the key ones:
#2 (TdF Stage Winner Chain): As I said above, I came on as often as I could, eventhough I should've been doing other things. In the end there were a few silly mistakes that cost us the win, though I would like to point out that I was the only one to have the idea of making a google doc, where we could easily collect stage winners, sorted alphabetically.
#5 (Pacman): Of course I didn't do as much as Jseadog did, but I did play pretty much from the moment I came home untill about five minutes from the deadline, and would've played on for much longer if it would have been necessary.
#12 & 13 (Auction & Sliders): I was out on the day/night of the auction, and in bed for the follow up challenge, so I just had really bad luck there, though I'm happy to say that I didn't need any of the things I could have bought there, due to clever alliances.
#16 (Numbers): I was at least close with most of them, though I made the fatal mistake of forgetting PM's for things like Redemption Island or some of the challenges, and that cost me.
#17 (Question Search): This was the challenge I knew I wanted to excell in, and that I did. I decided to start from the back, just for the sake of it, decided to start looking in the Andy Schleck QfH and found it easily on page two. That way, I knew what to look out for, and could find the other ones quick-ish, some easier, some harder. Luckily I was searching by looking to see if MrE had edited something, so I knew that for the Comeback on it had to be one of the links, so I just sat there, clicking all episodes of a season and searching. In retrospect I could've clicked "quote" to see if I'd see any suspicious links, but it worked anyway.
As an addition I would like to say that I think I could've done a lot better at some Individual Challenges, but decided to stay quiet, since I knew I'd most likely survive anyway. This proved to be a good tactic, because Jseadog did very well at a lot of IC's, but got voted out because everybody knew that'd make him a nearly certain winner.
Now I'd like to talk you through my alliances, which were actually rather unspectacular. Pretty much as soon as the game started, me and knockout started an alliance, which proved to be a very effective one. At that point I also had a truce with Jesleyh, but it was nothing big really. That stayed that way until the shake up, in which I knew I'd need Jesleyh, so couldn't let the Puertos vote him off. I convinced Jakstar to vote off Marco instead, and Avin went on willingly, of course knowing he was allied with Jesleyh.
I honestly can't fully remember how it came this way, but eventually it resulted in Avin leaving. This was also the point at which I tried to form an Alliance with Jakstar, but pulled back a little as he told me what i had already supsected; that he and Cycleman had an Alliance to go all the way. I then decided I wouldn't pursue this more until Cycleman was voted off, since I wanted to keep up my Alliance with knockout.
Then things got a bit quiet, until, with about seven people left, me expecting it to come down to the five Tinkoffs, I decided to "infiltrate" the Jesleyh-Froomedog Alliance. This way I wanted to make sure they didn't notice it'd be 3 against 2 once all Puertos where gone, and it seemed to work at first. That was when Jakstar joined our Alliance. To this day I have no Idea why he came in, but I know that it changed things around, and forced me to vote out Froomedog. I know this wasn't the end of the world, but I had planned on voting Jesleyh off as soon as it was us 5 Tinkoffs, and then stage a little coup against Jseadog at the last challenge, leaving me, knockout and Froomedog. In the end this was quite like it came, just Jesleyh replacing Froomedog.
This is coming to an end now, though I could write loads more, but I think everybody's waiting for the questions now, so it's only this last thing.
Froomedog and Jseadog: I'm very sorry I had to betray you, especially Froomedog, but I had to play it the way it panned out best for me, so I hope you're not too angry at me for doing so. It's not always the nicest thing to do, but after all this isn't a "who's the nicest guy?" competition, so I hope you understand.
And one last thing: Thanks for making this MrE, it was really enjoyable, and a really interesting experience. I came in here hoping to make it to the Jury, and now I'm standing here trying to convince the Jury. I hope it doesn't end here.
Now that all 3 finalist have posted their thoughtful opening statements,
it's time for the jury to have their fun so they can decide who they
are going to vote for as the winner of PCM.Daily Survivor Season 2.
Here are the guidelines the Jury has to follow for this to be effective.
.
Each Jury Member Is Allowed To Post A Maximum Of 2 Questions.
However You Don't Have To Post A Question If You Don't Want To.
At Least Post Something So I Know You Are Still Active.
- The jury must go one at a time.
- Questions can be directed at one, two, or all three finalist.
- A maximum of 4 jury members can ask their questions on 1 day.
- If a jury member doesn't post something by Saturday I will PM them.
- If still nothing I will go down the list of members that didn't make jury.
- The Jury will send in their vote once the entire Q & A session is over.
Finalist you have to answer every question directed towards you.
That's about it. So Jury Members ask away (one at time).

1: Why do you think your rivals shouldn't win? Please tell why they are not good, not why you are good.
I think that Dippo should not win because he did not spend as much time for the game like Jesleyh or me. He said that himself in his speech:
My plan was to not be too much more active than necessary
I don't think this should get honoured by winning the title of Sole Survivor.
Jesleyh should not win either but because of very different reasons: He has propably spent little less time than me on this but there is no big difference. The reason why you should not vote on him is that the way he plays the game is not the way you should play it in my opinion.
I've been in tons of alliances, sometimes even pretending to be in alliances, leaving alliances, trying to work into alliances etc. I've been in a lot. Manipulating was definitely involved
Survivor is a game where a lot of participants try this but i don't think this should get honoured, too. In RL Survivor, there is someone who reminds me in the way of his play towards the way Jesleyh did and this is Russell Hantz. And despite of the fact that he was twice in the final tribal council he did not win RL Survivor yet because his "manipulative, cunning and emotionally abusive demeanor" was not liked by the jury and as i think it is wrong to play the game like he did and therefore you should not vote for him.
2: What do you see as your best act during this entire game? What was your most important contribution in either team or individual challenges?
The immunity challenge were i contributed the most was for sure the GT winner one where i did most of the work. But the real best act was propably getting the Redemption Island Freepass in the Survivor Auction. It is a good example of how i played the game: i was very sure that the Immunity Idol was in the silent auction and i already placed a bet so that i nobody who wasn't in our allience then could get it.
But when TMM placed his bet on the Freepass it was a bad situation. If he would have got it it would have been near to impossible to stop him getting into the final five (we were quite sure he had one immunity). I had to stop him because TMM was one of the most dangerous players in the game and therefore, I gave my immunity challenge up to help our alliance.
Another thing i'm proud of is finding two immunities when i had only one hint for the first one ("It's hidden under a link" and none for the second one.
1: Why do you think your rivals shouldn't win? Please tell why they are not good, not why you are good.
At first, let me tell you that I totally hate this question, I don't like to talk negatively about the other finalist.
But okay.
Knockout & Dippo both had challenges were they were really inactive. I had as well, but at least I announced that so that the team knew, while I don't think they did.
Also, I think their tactics(both had similair tactics) isn't the most effective ones. They have been lucky that their alliance got through in the end, f.e. if Avin wasn't voted out, I doubt that it'd have gone like this. I don't think they'd have been able to get further then, they were quite lucky at some point. Also, the fact that they only had 1 strong alliance is actually what makes them weak.
They both weren't the smartest persons of the game, and in my opinion, that's what it takes to be the Survivor winner.
(Sorry guys )
2: What do you see as your best act during this entire game? What was your most important contribution in either team or individual challenges?
Hmm. I guess I may give 2 answers on this question, basically it are 2 completely different questions in my eyes.
My best act in the game I think was getting Avin(and provisionally others) on my side. If Avin survived, that would for sure have been key to get to the final easily, but now, I still got here. If I didn't try to set up an alliance with Avin, I would've gone out, and had zero chance of winning, since I wouldn't be there at the immunity either.
My best challenge. Hmm.
Team-wise, I'd say the 2nd challenge, those chain thing. I was there really all of my free time those 1,5 days, it's just the lack of being active of the others that made us not win that challenge.
Individual, I think the auction. I hoped that the PM was something else than immunity, just to surprise us. While I expected everyone to bid really high on the secret auction, I managed to get 3 items in, 2 very cheap. I was especially proud of my Jeff Probst picture, allright, it was expensive, but it's hanging above my bed now.
Anyway, that challenge basically brought me immunity for the next challenge, getting an extra turn and way more time.
Sadly, Jak took the extra turn away from me, but I still won the next challenge due to the bonus.
Edit: Sorry, clicked on post reply too early

There is no reason why the others should not win, the only reason you should vote for me is if you think I should
Sorry if this effects Dippofix, but that's what I'd do.
Also, my keyboard automatically corrects Dippo to Dippofix
