Watch out Argentina!

For what?

A lucky country that can't defend who counters out an even poorer defending country?

Germany didn't look good today. The score is very much deceiving.

You're ridiculous sometimes Ruben... Germany has an excellent GK, Özil is really great, Klose is one of the greatest strikers in WC, Schweinsteiger very intelligent in his way of playing and so on...
Germany was better than England, which played (again) very poor and have no good team.

But Germany have yet to convince me. I really don't think they are so great. Mertesacker, Lahm and Friedricht dont look like a sturdy defense and your 'excellent' goalie made a huge mistake at the English goal...
Argentina is the better team.

Ok, now it's the moment where you're gonna tell me that he didn't save shots than others would have missed no?

That's what a goalkeeper is supposed to do Lorkan, but he is judged by errors he makes, like the goal by England.

Errors like that cost you the world cup against a good team. (England wasn't rated as good team by me)

In the matches that I've seen, it worked once. The amount of times it has failed? Lots.

Video reviews, on the other hand...

Yep, videos are what we need. They have introduced it in many many sports and as far as I'm aware, it has always been a success. Cricket, Tennis, Rugby...why not Football?

Anyway, 2-0 Sad

Yeah, of course I know. Wink

Just saying that given FIFA's positions, it's a more likely scenario.

Refere nows that made mistake ( he saw it on video ) and didn't change his mind Rolling Eyes

I am not really sure if he was allowed to change his decision after watching the scene again on the big screen.
This would be similar to the video proof which isn`t active yet.

Until the International Board understands that it isn't a matter of quantity I would be really pleased with an extra referee.

I just don't get the argument against the ball chip idea. It wouldn't change anything in the match, it's purely beneficial. That said I hope the next FIFA chairman will be english...

Allright, so if I follow you, there is no excellent goalkeeper, since each and every one has at least made once a mistake...

If this kind of mistake can cost you the cup, the kind of save he did after that can make you win it, simple.

I'm not talking about normal mistakes, this was a blunder.

And world class goalies don't make blunders at world cups.

It's a reasonable idea with video reviews no doubt, but I just reckon that it takes some spirit out of the game. Say there's a question about a goal whether it went in or not, and it's a crucial goal at the Worlds. It would be a bit anti-climatic if the referee staff needed to review the finish before the team could celebrate having scored, had it been a goal of course.

Linesmen should always, always be able to see if it's a goal or if it isn't.

It'd make the game less spontaneous with reviews and it doesn't fit a traditional and historic game like football.

That's just my five cents Smile

2 or 3 challenges per team like in tennis would be perfect.

Another system is the goal detection. When the ball has crossed the line, a vibration is sent to the ref's watch, and he can then decide to allow or disallow the goal in an instant - a combination of what he sees and what the technology tells him.

That'd fix what we saw in England - Germany, but not Argentina - Mexico.

My counter-argument to what you said is that you do spend 3-5 minutes discussing with the players anyway. If you saw the Mex-Arg match, you would notice that they were discussing with the linesman for a long period of time. That's what always happens when a decision is obviously wrong. Instead of discussing for 3-5 minutes, where the refs see their wrong decisions being played on the big screen, but without possibility to change their decisions, why not allow a video review?
