Surprisingly many suggestions - thanks
I got Little Big Planet Racing for free (review copy ), but it misses some speed. It's simply too slow to my liking.
Gran Turismo is too serious / realistic - I'm looking for something in between those two games (GT and LBP Racing). Anyway, with all those suggestions I guess I can start checking out demos |

I got a cup-stacking game, and a Zlatan Ibrahimovic book.

I've been looking forward to today for a long, long time since we're going to have lutefisk for dinner!
For those of you who doesn't know what it is; it's aged fish that's been soaking in lye for some time.

The fish itself looks like this. It has a gelatinous texture though it depends on how long it's been soaking in lye.
This is what a proper lutefisk-meal looks like.

That is the best joke I've ever read in my life
I'm sorry, but....what's less realistic than it? Super Laser Racer? Wipeout 2097? I'm struggling to think of anything
EDIT: Unless you're not talking about driving physics but something else?
To explain: As someone with relatively high level karting competition experience (and a hobby in racing simulators) I can personally vouch that little big planet racing is actually slightly closer to real life physics than gran turismo. Let that thought sink in. That's how arcade GT is.

I don't mind eating my words again. I don't know what's realistic - I'm driving a Hyundai Getz at max 110 km/h, and that's basically what I know about cars.
I don't know what the issue is then, but the game does feel rather boring to me. |

My entire knowledge of cars can be summed up with " a Ford Focus is made out of solid stuff".
I know that because I once punched one during one of my drunken ramblings.
Edit: If you are eating lutefisk it is customary to drink akevitt with it. It's an alcoholic drink that stands at about 40% and is traditionally made from potatoes.

Hey, as long as you're having fun that's what matters
I was just wanting to point out that Gran Turismo is not a simulation AT ALL. It's a blatantly arcade game marketed as a simulation. If it were an actual simulation it wouldn't sell because it would be hard to drive
Same deal with Forza, F1 2012, etc...arcade games.
And that's exactly what they're designed to be, it's not a fault in the game!
There is one good thing about Gran Turismo and simulation of real racing though: the gran turismo academy. Some good racers from online competitions of actual simulators (a lot of guys i've raced against online and even some in real life karting actually) have made it into real life racing careers through GT Academy.
Then again watching those guys win GT Academy and then make it as a professional always makes me sad because it makes me think "guy X is a second a lap faster than him but doesn't get a chance because there's no GT Academy in his country....that sucks". It's even worse because a sizeable portion of the guys i race in simulators are real life drivers at a very high level (GP2, World Series by Renault, FIA GT, etc.) and they get their asses kicked by people who never had the money to make it in real racing (not talking about me btw, I can beat quite a few of them but I can't touch the best)
Sorry, ranting

Nissan GT Academy ? Lucas Ordoñez is doing decent in Le Mans series. Took him a little while to adapt, but he's decent.
I'm not sure about Jordan Tresson yet. |

I was 600th out of 900.000 this year's GT Academy, but I could have done a lot better if I could spend more time on my PS3.

Meh, Tresson's nothing special.
Reip is good. Watch out for him. Well, there are so many guys a second a lap and more better, but they don't get the chance to drive a car.
Well, that's not strictly true. The absolute best guy in simulations for the past decade got to try a formula car last year. 33 years old, fat, out of shape, never drove one before, doesn't even have a driver's license.......only got to do 5 slow laps to learn the car followed by 2 "fast" laps that he had to slow down halfway through each for yellow flags....
Still did a laptime that would've put him on the grid for the real life star mazda race there. yeah.
Oh, and another of the best got an invitation from a hungarian Seat Léon Eurocup team to do a test at the hungaroring (the team owner had seen him racing online). He'd never driven a real life car.
On his 5th lap he beat the lap record, previously held by former F1 driver Zsolt Baumgartner.
That's the kind of wasted potential that makes this a sad topic for me. These people don't get chances because they're not rich.
It's like Senna said: If you want to make a little bit of money in motor racing, start with a big amount of money. (Senna was rich already as a child btw, just like anyone else who makes it in motor racing)

That's more or less what Schumacher answered a couple of years ago, when asked whether he was the best F1 driver ever. "I don't know. The best F1 driver might as well be a lumberjack somewhere in Canadian forest".
That being said, driving IRL implies a good constitution too (especially the faster the cars are), which not every virtual driver has. |

isso is just a iRacing fan
All these arcade/simulation talk is just stupid as the talk is everytime the same and everytime without any result^^
When I take rFactor 2
Race (isso would say ARCADE!!)
or iRacing
Every single game (not simulator as these are still games.. Like Forza and GT ) they have all a diffrent approach whilst I hate rFactor 2 because it feels like there is no grip at all on the track (same problem with rFactor 1) whilst racing with a race car and slick tires, iRacing feels like a racing career simulator because you need to throw a lot of money at them to start with a good collection 15$ for each track and some $ for each car and at start you just have 5-8 tracks and cars or so..
Norbert Michelisz was also a online sim racer got through that to a hungarian team, from local hungarian cups to the SEAT Leon Cup from there to the SEAT Leon Supercopa and then into the WTCC. And he is a damn fast sim racer I can tell from my experience^^.
*proposes a Sim racing thread isso seems to be one, I was one (Race 07 from SimBin) because the people here in Germany are just mad plus the factor competition/fun wasn't that good anymore*

I'm a fan of good physics and good competition structure. At the moment the best physics are with nKPro, and iRacing has the second best. But iRacing has the best competition structure so all the best simulation drivers are there. So that's where I am too because I want to race the best.

Eh?
Race (isso would say ARCADE!!)
Why would I say that?

Yep, it's a lot of money, that's a problem.

That is the reason why i dont watch F1, it is like watching any other aristocrats having their noble fun and showing their money to masses, not my cup of tea.
