Tondo was also dangling off. Porte seemed quite smooth.

Yes, it´s going to be an amazing finish but I cannot watch it
If they are not showing it were you live, you could just use the onine RAI feed.
If it is because you have to be somewhere else during the finish, I would highly recomend you to just turn off the Tele now, avoid the results and dowload the replay from cyclingtorrents.nl later. |

This guy need to try a leader role at future
He doesn't have mentality of leader, also acceleration and TT-skill suck. If he wants to be a leader, he also needs to pay more attention to flat stages and keep top form for three weeks.
But if it comes to setting high pace uphill for long km's, he's the best.
Roman -> He won't ride Vuelta this year, he's going to TdF, and gonna be Liquigas' leader on Tour de Pologne (finally chance for him to win it, as we have an uphill finish... easy, but still uphill).
It's good for him to go to the TdF, he's one of the best domestiques there is, but this might be the Grand Tour that he can make the most impact in, ever.
Reason being: Out of the major favorites, Nibali and Basso are the only ones with teammates who can climb. All of the favorites need a hard pace set on as many climbing kilometers as possible, so that they can create huge time gaps and make up the time on the second-tier riders currently at the top of the standings.
So basically, the final GC is down to two types of battles: Szmyd vs Arroyo/etc, and then after that Nibali vs Basso vs Evans vs Vino vs Scarponi/etc. |

I'd hope so with all the work that Liquigas is doing.

I believe it's a good tactic. Getting rid of as many rivals as possible before the Zoncolan.
Szmyd will keep it up until the foot of the Zoncolan, and on the climb they don't need helpers. It's so hard that it's each man on his own. No advantage of being in anyone's slipstream. |

And as I mentioned before, the Arroyo et al. types can't afford to lose the leading group before the Zoncolan, or else they're screwed. So even if you don't get rid of them, the harder you make them work now, the bigger chance of them blowing up on the Zoncolan, the more likely you are to get huge time gaps.

And then when they run out of men their leader (Basso or Nibali) attack or stay where they are.

this is good tactics..to but lot of pressure to rivals before main climb..
When Nibali or Basso maks a move there..there is not much left to respond..just Cadel, Sastre, Scarponi maybe..
Szmydt has done this years..destroying peloton at the mountains. Best team mate what you can get. |

It's the Zoncolan. If they had 15 minutes it wouldn't be enough.

Basso does well with a long hard slog at a steady pace. They're not showing anything, they're doing what they have to do to maximize their leader's chances.
